Dr. Rupesh J Shah, DO

My mother is 76 years old, legally blind, suffers from dementia, and is medically vulnerable. I am her legally designated Power of Attorney (POA).Approximately one month ago she suffered a serious medication mismanagement incident at a prior assisted living facility where she was administered multiple medications belonging to another resident for over two weeks. Because of that event, she has already been experiencing complications and possible medication-related side effects.Despite this very recent history, Dr. Rupesh Shah prescribed psych medication Serq to address behavioral symptoms without properly considering whether those behaviors could have been related to the previous medication exposure and toxicity.Shortly after this medication was started, my mother began slurring her speech. I repeatedly asked staff what had caused the sudden change, and at no point was I informed that a new medication had been added. I only later learned that a psych medication Serq had been… prescribed.Even more concerning is that my mother has been hospitalized since for a week, yet I was not contacted by the attending physician regarding her care, treatment decisions, or medication changes. I had to specifically request that the nurse have the doctor contact me, and only then did communication occur much later that day. Even after the communication he still prescribed her a psych medication to calm her down the next day. As her POA and legal decision-maker, he is failing to notify or involve me in medication decisions and changes to her care plan which is reckless and unacceptable. My mother was admitted for vaginal bleeding, and now her neurological condition has deteriorated to the point that she cannot speak. This progression raises serious concerns regarding medication safety, informed consent, and communication with the patient’s legal decision-maker. This doctor does not comprehend well he just prescribes medications without considering the history of the patient. Her having dementia POA on file should have been called immediately. Whom else should you get her history from.

I have called there many times, never receive a call back. Whom ever sits in the front as the receptionist never answers the phone. Therefore you can't schedule an appointmemt, so,, I am looking for another Dr..

Do not follow up.never in the office have trouble reaching out to him.just terrible service

He does not have the ability to communicate with patience or family.He did not feel this was an important feature of being professional.Lesds to a lot of confusion and mis-diagnosis.

Excellent care> Used by many health care professionals. Always looking to improve care and medication use. And, he is an all-around nice gentlemen.

Kind, Caring, Compassionate Doctor. He listens to what your complaints are, and then takes the time to figure out what is wrong with them. If he can't then he's not too proud to send you to a specialist. My entire family has changed over from our primary care physician that we'd been with for over 15 years, but who no longers seemed to care to now seeing Dr. Shah. Best decision we've ever made.
