13 WEEKS HOSPITAL OR NURSING HOME WITH OPEN BOOK FRACTURE OF PELVIS. VERY HAPPY WITH DR. DE GROOTE

In 7 visits, Dr. DeGroot never physically examined me with the exception of the first visit when he did a ROM exam; besides that, the only time he touched me was to give cortisone shots. He also was really adamant about performing surgery until my last visit. But my biggest complaint is that he never prescribed adequate restrictions for work and, on my last visit, he inexplicably (and unknown to me) opted out of surgery and cleared me for full duty despite worsening of symptoms. My employer promptly took advantage of this and now I face permanent disability. His explanation, and I quote, was, "Besides your pain, there is no reason you can't do your (full) job." At that point, I said good bye.

I was a patient of Dr. DeGroot in his practice in West Virginia. I had seen 6 previous Orthopedic Physcians prior to getting a referral to Dr. DeGroot and found him the most knowledgable of all of them. He fixed what he could and was upfront and truthful with me about what couldn't be fixed and what to expect. The Doctor tells it like it is. Maybe his bedside manner would be a bit brisk for some patients but I found it refreshing. I am sorry he left West Virginia but he is a excellent addition to Colorado orthopedic surgery.

I arrived at the emergency room after being a victim in a head on collision. I was left alone on a gurney for 4 hours without any pain meds for my broken dislocated hip and broken wrist. 8 hours after my surgery, he comes to my room and tells me he didn't pin my hip and relocated it. I had a ton of questions and he didn't give me 5 minutes of his time. (I was in my early 30's and had no clue what to expect with a hip injury) He really had no concern for my welfare or feelings. I told the nurses I didn't care for his bedside manor and then very next morning (day 2) he came in my room at yelled loudly at me that if I didn't like it I could go to another hospital! The nerve! I told him 3 days in a row that my wrist was hurting every time I tried to pull myself up in bed. On the 4th day he finally had my wrist ex-rayed. It was indeed broken. (Which in my hospital papers noted that he knew my wrist was broken when I was ex-rayed in the emergency department the day of my accident!) He did… not care for my wrist well at all and I ended up seeing another (qualified) surgeon who did surgery on it 6 months later. After I left the hospital I had a follow up appointment with him and he had me lay on his examining table at his office and grabbed my leg and pushed it so hard and fast that I screamed in pain. My hip had been broken less than 3 weeks before this point. He is cruel, judgmental, careless and in my opinion a quack! His degree is from Canada, if it is an actual degree. And has been at more than 7 hospitals in 15 years. The one were I was mis-treated isn't even on his list. So if this doesn't tell you something, I feel for you if you choose to see him.

Excellent surgeon. Not but praise for his bedside maner and skills

Really was amazed how much time he spent with me and my family. Was operation was a complete success and he and he staff let me know the course of rehab before surgery. Would recommend him to everyone especially for sports medicine

I think that doctor degroote had excellent patient care. He was very professional and his office had an excellent atmosphere. Also my injury that he operated on has healed amazingly well and I have no problems with it.

Knee replaced, severe pain for almost one year. Dr. Degroote ignored my symptoms. Knee was badly infected. One year later saw another dr. Knee had to be removed. IVs for 6 weeks. Another knee put in.
