From the beginning Dr.Stemberger explained that our child being an older teenager has rights to privacy. We were asked to sign documents acknowledging that, we did. During the therapy, Dr. Stemberger treated us, the parents, like a third party with limited access at the therapy details, showing no empathy and being judgmental towards our child. Our child left many of the therapy sessions in distress. At the end of the therapy sessions she did not take the time to tell us details about how the sessions went. When we asked questions she made us understand that our time was up. We moved our child to another therapist. Our child is treated with empathy and compassion, the family is treated as part of the therapy and at the end of every session the therapist takes the time to discuss together with our child how everybody can help. Our child and us leave the therapy being hopeful and in a good and constructive mood. Our recommendation is to interview many therapists before selecting one,… much damage can be done.
