Dr. Ryan Miller

Dr. Miller did a very difficult surgery on my son Aaron's club foot. It's difficult enough as a parent when your child has had so many surgeries, you want to help and you can't. He picked up very fragile pieces where another surgeon left off. He takes the time to talk to my son who is also on the Autism Spectrum and that is never an easy task. Everything was explained so that we understood all the possible outcomes. He never sugarcoated and he has gained all of my respect because of that. He didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, he told me the truth, what I needed to hear. The office itself is nice, clean and comfortable and the office staff is very friendly. I couldn't be happier with the care Aaron received.

My son went in for a broken arm. Turns out it was a buccal fracture, the most common fracture and many doctors just recommend a split as the fracture heals on its own. Dr. Miller spent 5 minutes with us, no setting or manipulation of the fracture was required, X-rays had already been taken elsewhere and all he had to do was review them. He then referred us to casting. Within a few days my sons cast came off on its own. I didn't make an issue of it at all and had him use a splint. However when I received the bill I was charged for two exams, a new patient exam and an established patient exam totaling $375 dollars, a casting fee of $37 (reasonable), and one extra few that they can always charge no matter what, which is "fracture care" of $668. That covers any setting, manipulation, and subsequent follow up care and appointments. Well, he required none of that. However, they refused to retract the fee since they "can" charge it. I told them I realize they can charge that fee but ethically… there is no way they should. In order to keep our healthcare costs down we have a large deductible per family member. I explained to the manager that this will do one of two things or possibly both, prevent parents from seeking proper care when it comes to fractures but also directly increase the cost of medical care for all and especially insurance rates. Insurance companies are definitely the fair share of the problem but many, many doctors offices are the root of the problem as well by overbilling when those services are not provided. Hopefully, we never need to see an orthopedic surgeon again but if so we will be seeking treatment elsewhere.

So glad Dr. Miller was the surgeon for our daughter. He was gentle and kind with her and thorough with our questions.

My five year old broke her arm and was coming in for her permanent cast at first I really like the doctor seemed nice I told me that it had moved out of place and was going to need to be adjusted and that there would be some tears but he wasn't going to medicate or anything so I thought maybe she would yell out a couple times instead she was in horrific excruciating pain while he moved it back to get it into place I'd say maybe only took a couple or 3 minutes but I thought she was going to pass out from the pain then wrap the cash 3 xray and still was off by 20% told me it was the same that you would have done for his own child and then just before we left told me she may have a small bone sticking out of her arm now I'm going to another specialist and have to go through it all again so we can get it right this time. Extremely mad that I let my child suffer like that if I had known it was going to hurt her like that I would have insisted he give her something and do it right she went… through all that pain and I still have to go to another appointment and she has to get her arm moved more is just a waste of my time this week. very annoyed very upset.
