Pretends to listen but just takes notes to use against you later as a excuse to refuse care or refuse further investigation. Treats using trial and error with medications resulting in worsening rather than improvement in several cases. Generally a quiet and shy type but if you dont agree with his “diagnosis” and push back even slightly then he gets aggressive and hostile. Stay away.

I am a difficult medical patient. Even before I developed my condition I was always finicky about the smallest things; and now that I've been in poor health for a few years I'm frankly over-read on what most doctors believe is an intractable condition. Dr. Lum is amazing. He puts up with me. He listens to me. He's willing to research and try new things I've read, within reason. When I go in, he waits until everything is addressed before leaving - even if we run over by 10 or 20 minutes. He's good to push back when I don't know what I'm talking about, but never does it in an unfriendly way. He's also very cordial - every single appointment I am greeted and left with a smile and a hand shake. He is very knowledgeable; and where his knowledge ends, he always gives a good referral to another competent doctor. He definitely deserves more patients. I can usually schedule a visit within days, and never have to wait long in the lobby. Because any good review should list at… least one con, I'll say I wish Dr. Lum would be better about summarizing his advice on a print out I can take home with me, or sending even a brief message afterward. It can be difficult to remember things he's said, especially if it's regarding things about which I am unfamiliar.
