Dr. Ryo Chong Choi-Pearson, MD

Never written a provider review before, but she has been great enough that I wanted to leave one. I’ve gone to Dr. Choi-Pearson several times now for various birth control, related prescriptions, and regular testing, and she was extremely professional and knowledgeable every time. She always made sure I understood everything that was being done, recommended useful resources, was receptive to my ideas for my care while also floating other options that may work for me, was willing to troubleshoot medication, and was kind without being overly familiar. All around, great experiences and plan to continue to see her.

I had a great experience with Dr. Choi-Pearson as a new student. I had to book a last-minute appointment for a cystic infection and she was able to take me that afternoon. She patiently listened to everything I had to say, and was very clear about what was going on and what I should do, and she even prescribed a specific brand of antibiotic at my request (one that had worked previously). I ended up having to get the infection swiftly removed the next day and she once again took me in on very short notice because of the severity of the problem, and she fixed it. Overall I got the impression that she really cares about her patients and about communicating with them, and she is a friendly but straight-talking and very skilled doctor.

Dr. Choi is the best gynecologist I ever seen. She is a bit serious, but she really cared about my health and gave me many good suggestions. Her decision is not based on if she will make profit. It is very difficult to find a gynecologist like that in private clinics.

I agree with some of the reviews that she is a bit more on the serious side when dealing with a patient but I do not think this is necessarily a bad thing. I for one, am a person who likes to make people smile. And I must say that my attempts with her were successful. She is not judgmental at all, very understanding. I feel like I can tell her anything. She's pretty attentive especially with follow ups. Overall I love her professionalism and I trust her.

I love Dr. Choi-Pearson she is amazing and great at what she does, she has great people skills and doesn't judge. She's my favorite doctor ever!

I went to see her this Monday. I just got pregnant for the first time. I'm little scared of that. I waited her for like 15 mins, and then she came. She didn't ask me to do any test at first. I think she was not willing to tell something about my pregnancy. So I asked her many questions, but she didn't pay attention to what im talking about. I cared about things that i need to care about, like the classes, eating behaviors, etc. She was just staring at her own screen and told me nothing!!!! All she wanna do is trying to give me birth control and plan b!!! She didnt give me any suggestions when I want to hear from her! she made me feel like i was bothering her work. she wrote nothing about me, and just let me go to the women clinics. I think she is not responsible for her pregnant patient's thought and health at all!!!

Dr. Choi-Pearson was my assigned OBGYN while I was a student with health insurance at OSU. While Dr. Choi-Pearson seemed very capable and knowledgeable about her work, I did not feel welcomed in her office. She was my first OBGYN and I'm glad she won't be my last. I'm sure she sees a lot of students a day (getting an appointment with her is difficult) and I know she doesn't have to please us to keep her job (she will have it regardless), but a little compassion would be nice. I found out I had HPV through her and she never bothered to explained what it meant, how to treat it, any follow up, anything. She didn't really even tell me I had it, I had to ask her if the problems I was having were because of HPV and she told me THEN that they were. She was also very informal even though I saw her a few times (never seemed to remember who I was) and never looked me in the eye or even to my face (she always stared at her screen). I felt the whole time like I was just a bother to her. Again, I'm… sure she sees a lot of students and who knows how many she has to diagnose with HPV given it is so common amongst college-aged women but remembering who I was, acting like she cared and actually coming up-front and giving me my diagnosis would've been nice.
