Dr. Sabiha Jabeen Omar, MD

Dr. Sabiha Omar diagnosed me with bipolar disorder after a 5–10 minute conversation, without a proper psychiatric assessment. This was a severe misdiagnosis—I voluntarily went to the hospital for depression and burnout, not mania. She tried to put me on high doses of Seroquel and Lamictal, which were inappropriate. I’ve since been treated with Lexapro and Remeron (SSRIs)—medications that would worsen bipolar disorder, but I’ve had no manic symptoms. This alone disproves her diagnosis. My current psychiatric nurse practitioner and a board-certified psychiatrist I saw in 2024 both ruled out bipolar disorder after thorough assessments. I believe cultural bias as a Middle Eastern male played a role in how I was misjudged. I've filed complaints with LARA and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Avoid this provider—this was not just careless, it was harmful.

I saw Dr. Omar during my hospitalization. I will say as a person who works in the medical field that she is extremely rude, will argue with you, will make a false diagnoses after speaking with you for about 5-10 minutes and will try to put you on an insane amount of medications based on false diagnoses. Please do not listen to her and get a second opinion from a different doctor, she will cause you more harm than help you. I know myself very well especially since I work in the medical field. She told me I was bipolar after speaking with me for 10 minutes, I had a previous psychiatrist rule out that I was bipolar and only have depression and anxiety. Be very cautious with this doctor, very irresponsible as she just does whatever she wants. Corewell health should keep an eye on her. Assessment of a patients usually takes 1-2 visits. Therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists usually have to get to know their patients to make a diagnoses. She will make a false diagnosis within minutes.… She needs to retire and stop seeing patients but its all about MONEY MONEY MONEY!!! she will see you for 5 minutes and send in claims, our healthcare system isn't about healing but profit and numbers!!!"

I was having a really hard time two years ago and decided to seek treatment. I made an appointment at the HUDA clinic and was assigned Dr. Omar. When I met with her she was asking a lot of leading questions and when she wasn’t getting the responses she was looking for she asked me the same question again and again and again. When I told her my reason for being there is I had been thinking of suicide she blew right past that and started asking how fast my thoughts are which I found unusual. I told her again about how depressed I was and finally she asked me if I had a plan. I told her what I had been considering and no joke she actually chuckled and said “Well that's stupid, you'll die.” To which I told her I think that’s the point then she rolled her eyes at me. She gave me some off the cuff diagnosis of being Bi-polar and prescribed me medication then told me I could check back in a month. No referral for therapy, no follow up on her part. At the end of the appointment I went to… shake her hand and she just looks and me, then down at my hand, then just keeps writing. I felt so terrible. I didn’t even make it to the parking lot before I was crying. I found another doctor who actually gave me the time of day and we found that because I had a miscarriage less than six months ago I was actually going through a version of postpartum from what my body went through. He informed me if I had taken the medication she had given me things could have been so much worse. I’m so happy I went to someone else who actually listened. I’m doing well and no longer need any antidepressants and have considered many times making a complaint with the state board but I always felt that since I was the one seeking treatment that no one would believe me. I’m not sure what I’ll do now but if this review helps one of her patients who had a similar experience then I’ll be happy.

Rude,disrespectful and possibly racist or sexist. At har request, I attended a case conference and when I had questions, she promptly ordered me to "shut up". Also told me to "get out". I am a psychologist and have never been spoken to so disrrspectfully since I was a student athlete in college. This woman needs evaluation!

Immediately spotted the difficulty with my sisters situation. She listened to me and then determined what the problem was. She was professional, caring and attentive. I would high recommend Dr Omar.

Every appointment I've had with Dr. Omar she has been on time, she listens, and actively monitors the medications she has prescribed me. I am satisfied with her services.

I have been a patient of Dr. Omar's for over 15 years. I have found her to be most professional, competent, and compassionate. I rarely have to wait over 5 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment. Her staff is an asset to her practice.

I found this Doctor to be rude, disrespectable and above all unprofessional. Check out her medical creditable. She was of no benefit to this reviewer.

The worst doctor ever encountered. She is deceptive in her practices, extremely unprofessional, and should lose her license to practice. If you value your loved one, do not allow this doctor to treat them. I wouldn't want her to treat my pet.
