Dr. Sabrina Marie Mentock, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Mentock’s for almost 20 years now. Dr. Mentock is really an outstanding doctor. I’ve found that she really takes the time to listen to her patients, and since her practice is small, you don’t find yourself shuttling between 6 or 7 doctors (as I’d found to be the case with my previous practice). I’ve never experienced a GP's office that takes as much time as Family Care does to know and listen to each of its patients.

Dr. Mentock has been my primary care Dr. since 1995. today I called in at 8:15 am with UV exposure to my eyes, and Dr. Mentock was able to squeeze me in, given the urgency of my situation. She took the time to assess the condition and explain it to me. I felt better immediately. Thanks Doc!

follow up is disastrous. Good luck getting timely referrals, or your calls answered. I suspect the problem is with the staff/nurses but nevertheless it is her office.

...some of her actions or lack of really frustrates me. For instance, it takes DAYS for her to call in a prescription. How do you eleviate that? Take the prescription request to the pharmacy yourself. It will get filled quicker. If she does call it in she sometimes calls in to the wrong pharmacy! Another problem, it takes awhile to get test results. How do you eleviate that? Call her office and ask for the nurse (Melissa) and she will tell the results. Otherwise, I love her bedside manner and caring attitude. She doesn't mind asking questions and she doesn't mind trying different things to eleviate your ailment. She remembers who you are. She makes great suggestions. I love the staff too. Ryan, her son is a riot! Sometimes I have wanted to leave and find another doctor, but her bedside manner is very important to me and that's why I am sticking it out with her.

Dr. Mentock is one of the best drs. I have ever been to; great at explaining things without a condescending attitude like some MDs. Takes the time to let you ask questions and doesn't rush you out the door. The administration on the other hand is lacking. Once, I needed to schedule something, and no one from her office called me back or did what they were supposed to do, as I was told would happen. You will have to stay on top of things and take charge because the people who work in her office may slack off and forget to follow through. I also received a report from the office about half a year after a test was actually performed; luckily I had already followed up on that but it was appalling that her office waited so long to provide something. Still, I would recommend the doctor and this practice. Everyone needs to take charge of their healthcare anyway and not expect any hand holding or assistance from staff.

My family has been with Dr. Mentock for 11 years. Over that time we have constantly over whelmed by both her professionalism and her caring for her patients. Sometimes the wait to see her is a bit long but you come to realize that she isn't there to turn over patients quick but to spend the time that is needed to treat the patient correctly. She has referred us to several other Dr. and they have all been the same caliber and as caring as she is. In short we have recogmended her to several of our friends and they all have become long time patients of her also.

Responsiveness is unbelievably poor. I waited six weeks for a test result that should have been available in one. When I called to ask about it after three weeks, I was told that she was too busy to get to it. It is typical to wait 9-10 days to get a response to a prescription refill request.

We were seeing Dr. Mentock for 17yrs until we had to move out of town. I just want to say that she has been a great doctor to me and my husband. Thanks, Dr. Mentock.

I thought the doctor was very nice. She took her time with me and I never felt rushed. I switched from a Duke clinic where I always waited about two hours for my appointment, so waiting 20 minutes to actually see a doctor that cared about me was no problem at all. Dr. Mentock was much more detailed then the urgent care doctor and I actually felt like I got my money's worth for once. The office was really nice too. It looked like a house and was much nicer then a regular doctor's office usually is. I would recommend it to my friends.

Results from pap smear took over a month to get. Results from another test took six weeks. Both should have been back in a week, but the doctor was "too busy" or at least that's what I was told when I called to ask. Office staff seems uncaring and cold.
