Dr. Sahar Kohanim, MD

I have been to multiple doctors for my recent vision issues. No one could figure out what was wrong. Fonts looked smaller and there was a tiny gray area near the center. I was so frustrated and felt like everyone was blowing off my issues and acting like it was all in my head. I was getting ready to give up. After much research, my mom found Dr. Kohanim and decided to see her for another opinion given her impressive credentials. Within a few minutes of talking to me and examining me, she had diagnosed me with “CSR!” She did a retina scan on my eye and showed me the fluid. She asked me if I was stressed and if I was using steroids of any kind. It was related to the steroid cream that I was using.... Finally a doctor who will LISTEN!

BEST eye doctor in Boston! After more than 10 years of suffering, I can finally open my eyes in the morning and not be in excruciating pain all the time. I am so sad to hear that she is leaving Boston. :(

I agree with the other reviewer. I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Kohanim. All the nurses in the ER were raving about her and how she is so nice, so brilliant and sharp and essentially THE doctor to see. I just wish the ER at Mass Eye and Ear was a little less busy, but I guess the nurse was telling me that they get a lot of emergencies from Mass General such as car accidents and burn victims, so it is not really Dr. K's fault....

I saw Dr. Kohanim at the VA for my cataract. She was very knowledgable, nice and thorough and was very encouraging. After a full exam, she sat down and went over everything with me and took the time to answer my questions and gave me samples of the medications. Unlike some other doctors, I did not feel rushed at all. She also gave me her card with her office number. She told me that she is doing her training at Harvard. She is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend her to everyone I know.
