Dr. Saijal Ligas, MD

Not for fat people In the past I went to Dr. Ligas with complaints of horrid stomach pains in a region of my body that should have led her to look closer. Instead she seemed to gloss over my explanation of the pain as me just being fat with acid reflux. I listened to her and took the medicine she gave me. It didn't help. The pain got increasingly crippling every time I ate until I went to the emergency room. it turned out I had what was obviously gallstones and I ended up needing surgery to remove my gallbladder. Had she looked past my weight, I may still have that organ. Recently in the past few months I went to her with textbook PCOS symptoms. Odd hair growth, menstrual issues, fatigue, and struggles to lose weight. She listened to all my symptoms and said the same thing. I just needed to lose weight and that was all. I had to ask her to put me on birth control to regulate my hormones. She didn't even bring it up herself as an option. Just weight loss. Well I went and got a second… opinion listing the same exact complaints to another doctor. They did more right off the bat by giving me suggestions related to my symptoms. A pelvic ultrasound where they clearly found an ovarian cyst. I am incredibly bothered she focused on my weight as the main issue whenever I'd have appointments. Maybe if she would have looked past my weight at the other problems I listed I'd still have a gallbladder and could have began treatment for PCOS sooner. I am having a much easier time with managing my weight now that I have seen another doctor who looked at me as more than just fat. I am on appropriate treatments that help regulate my hormones and energy so that I am able to be healthier. I have a diagnosis that gives me guidelines as to what foods and such I must look out for.... Yknow, instead of being dismissed as just being fat as my end all be all health problem with no further consideration that fatness can be a symptom.

I have never ever had a Doc as thorough and as caring. I would/did trust her with my life!

UGH!!!! BEWARE of this Dr.!! VERY uncaring,lacks bedside manner, no feeling whatsoever. Needs more years of practice and maybe she'll become better, or at least I hope so for the good of others. I hate being so negative towards a person of the medical profession,as this was my area of expertise, but I do want to warn others. She'd be alright if there is nothing seriously wrong, but God forbid if there would be. It could easily go undetected.She'd be alright for the yearly flu shot.
