Dr. Salil S Khandwala, MD

I went to Dr. Khandwala in Dearborn Mi. because of bladder leakage. He examined me and said that the pills I was taken for overactive bladder wasn’t doing anything and to stop taking them. He said a “sling on my urethra” would help and I would not have to buy pads any longer. I had the procedure done, and in the recovery room I was leaking more than ever. I was so upset. Dr. Khandwala saw me after the surgery and then said I had an overactive bladder and to start taking the overactive bladder medications again. This is the opposite as to what he said before. I went back on the overactive medication, and it still didn’t help. Dr. Khandwala said a “bulking” procedure can be done which narrows the urethra would greatly help. I had this procedure done by him also. This didn’t help my leakage either. I still leak very strongly when I wake up in the morning and I still continue to buy pads. When I got home after the bulking procedure, no one from the office has called to see how… I was doing, which I’m very upset about. It’s like they did their thing, now they don’t care how I’m doing. I am looking into going to Ann Arbor Michigan to see another doctor and see what can be done to help my situation. Make sure you research all doctors if you have my problem, before you decide to have any procedure done.

After years of urgency and frequency (up to 20+ times a day), I made the decision to seek medical help. Dr. Khandwala and his staff are absolutely fabulous! Together, they made a potentially embarrassing appointment a comfortable, informative and optimistic visit. Dr. Khandwala doesn't believe that any woman should live life worrying about where to find a restroom. There are so many options for treatment and he won't stop until he finds the best solution for each patient. The treatment and follow up I have received has changed my life. I just wish that I had not waited so many years!

This is the first time I have left reviews for any type of business, but the experience was so bad I had to. Absolutely horrible customer care. Dr khandwalla diagnosed a bladder problem I have, give me a diet regime to follow and told me just come back if I have issues. Well I didn't have issues for 5 years, then I finally had some bad issues, when I called they weren't willing to see me for two months saying they will have to treat me as a new patient. Even though I explained to them the urgent situation, they kept saying there is no room. The next day I went to my physician again explaining the issue, my physician called them and they were all able to get me an appointment at three days later. Being sick and in a lot of pain, I was 10 minutes late to that appointment, I called and apologized on the way and told them that I will be right there, they said okay. I showed up and signed in within the 15 minute Grace period. my new patient paperwork was not filled up all the way, even… though we both know they already have all my information in the system since I'm a referral and they are both within the Beaumont system. They said they will not see me. I explained to them how much pain I'm in and that it's an emergency situation and that I could have tried to get in with another urologist but I waited depending on this appointment. I even explained to them calmly with tears my situation, told them I'm willing to wait as long as I need to in the lobby, they still refused to see me or willing to work with me. Truly, shame on you.

I recently had a blocking procedure done by Dr Khandwala and I am so pleased with the results. I wish I had done it sooner instead of struggling with pads and Depends. I had it done at the office so it was a lot easier than going to the hospital Thank you Dr Khandwala

I first went to Dr Khandwala in 2011 when he did surgery to put in a mesh sling. It did not work and the hospital (Annapolis) conditions were abhorrent. I went back this year because my incontinence had gotten much worse hoping he could help. I went through all the tests and he said I needed to go to my Dr to find out how long to stay off Coumadin before doing a bulking procedure. I went there the same day and Dr sent in the recommendation yet I have not heard anything about scheduling I read all the reviews and am wondering now if I should go ahead. A 3.7 rating is poor and am wondering whether I should go ahead. There is virtually no follow up, instructions about procedure are on a educational video not by Dr personally, he spends only the necessary time with patient. I found the assistant, Rachel, to be the one who answered my questions

Not a great communicator, but when we finally got on the same page, the surgery fixed the prolapse beautifully. I had other attendant issues going on that were also fixed by the surgery. Just tell you what you want and be ready to debate with him!

I went through all of the tests over 3 mos. or so. And at the final follow up, he came into the room and simply said, "You are not incontinent.," with no explanation and walked out. I have a very OAB that is getting more and more difficult to control, and I found no relief from his treatments. He simply verily dismissed me with that statement! What kind of doctor does that?

Not interested to help you unless you agree to have interstim for pain Spends VERY LITTLE time in room with you. Doesn't like to do pap smears.

First of all, I rarely actually see Dr. Khandwala, I almost always see his "associates." I went in after a UTI which cleared up but I was still having symptoms as well as some pain during "deep penetration" sex. I was very uncomfortable when he examined me... he was pushing up on where it was hurting and kept rubbing it (like you would sexually). Also, I had a cystoscopy and it hurt quite a bit, I was very uncomfortable. I had my eyes closed and he kept telling me to look at the screen and wouldn't pull it out until I did. Nurses are really nice however. Though I had a lot of comments along the lines of "wow, you're too young to be here!" Which kind of offended me, felt like they thought nothing could actually be wrong with me.
