Dr. Salvatore M. Caruana, MD

Dr. Salvatore Caruana is a great surgeon! I recently had my procedure done in Weill Cornell Columbia NYP, during my surgical stay from pre-op to post- op it was an EXEPTIONAL CARE experience. The surgical team was friendly, professional, and helpful. My procedure went perfectly. I cannot say enough about my care, my pre-op phone call and everything that I need for my surgery. Dr. Caruana’s assistant Anne and Melissa the surgical coordinator assured me that all was on track. They were extremely helpful and kind. Dr. Caruana is indeed a world class surgeon! Takes time to explain things, never rushed, always willing to listen. Highly grateful for his expertise and wide range of knowledge. A fantastic surgeon that I totally recommend!!!

Dr. Carauana has a very rare mixture of compassion and skill. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Carauana and anyone fortunate enough to avail themselves of his skill could not be in better hands.

Turbinate surgeries from ent doctors can cause Empty Nose Syndrome, which damages the nerves in your nose and makes you feel like you're suffocating. Think again before having the surgery.

While employed as Interfaith Chaplain at St. Vincent Medical Centers, NY,I' had been treated by Dr. Salvatore Carauana from 1997-2004, Chief of then Head/Neck at St. Vincent Medical Center, West. 11th Street. In 2004, all chaplains except two priests, had to leave because the hospital had been almost bankrupt at that time. I had visited Dr. Carauana at NY Prespoterian Hospital for a short period after that. He had successfully treated my sinus condition. He concluded that my difficulties were being caused by a post-nasal drip. He directed me to begin doing daily sinus rinses. By doing so , I haven't needed to visit a medical person since.

My 1st time...and it was excellent! I was hesitant at first, but, he made me feel comfortable! He is my first NY doctor that I certainly adore and will recommend to my friends! :)

He is one of the few doctors that actually takes the time to speak with you and answer all your questions. Excellent bedside matters and his staff is willing to fit you in if you have an emergency if you are one of his cancer patients.

It's impossible to get a call back. I have been waiting over two weeks for a call back on an Appt that they are making. Hard to get someone on the phone, everything is I will relay the message...HORRIBLE ATTENTION to their patients.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Caruana and waited a month to meet with him. I had to leave his office after 1 hour of waiting. They are heavily overbooked. Make sure you have plenty of time or just find find another Dr.
