I am a pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgeon, and the current Chief of the Division of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery at Maria Fareri Children's hospital and Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, New York, USA. I am also a Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at New York Medical College. I am originally from Egypt and I graduated from Alexandria University in 1998 and completed my initial cardiothoracic surgical residency in Alexandria University, Egypt. This was followed by an advanced cardiovascular surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA. I then completed an integrated General and Thoracic Surgery residency at Mayo Clinic, followed by an accredited Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Surgery fellowship at Lucile Packard's Children's hospital, Stanford University, California, USA.I worked as a pediatric and adult cardiac surgeon at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota followed by the University of Minnesota prior to moving to Westchester Medical …Center in New York in 2022. I am American Board certified in General, Thoracic and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and I have a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from Carlson School of Management, at the University of Minnesota. I have co-authored more than 280 peer-reviewed publications and 25 Book chapters and edited two Books and my H-index is 41 on Google scholar with more than 4000 citations. I am the current Senior Editor for the congenital section of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Network (CTSNet). I am also an associate Editor for the Cardiothoracic Surgeon Journal, Frontiers in pediatric cardiology, and on the editorial board of the World Journal of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery and the Journal of Cardiovascular Disease and Development.
