Dr. Samir Basata, MD

Husband had Hurley surgery kidney stones in 1993. In 2014 Dr Basata in ER said scar tissue buildup so surgery to see what was going on. Results told scar tissue build up to tumor that was non cancerous. Went many appts after to drink purple drink that we we're told would build up wall of bladder because they scraped it during surgery. 2020 ER visit for pain told by Dr. husband had cancer in 2014 discovered in surgery and had we cancer checkups every year. We were devastated because we were told no cancer just scar tissue. Tried to change Dr. but other Dr's won't take you once you have had Dr. Basata we were told. While Basata did surgery husband got staph infection but Basata told us everything was fine and husband sudden downfall was natural for cancer. Sent U of M Dr. for surgery he could never do because had to treat infection before chemo and surgery. He died with 3 months at U of M. Lawyer said 72 yrs old at time and had moved 4 times getting different licenses in different states

Poor bedside manner, poor communication. Does not understand how to perform a consult by giving patient all of their options of treatment. He only talks about what he wants to do for you. I found Dr. Basata to be unavailable in an emergency. Obviously, he is not interested in the people he tries to treat. It's all about the insurance payment and co-pay that motivates him. I'm sorry I ever went local with my kidney stone issues.

Initially referred for recurring UTIs. Many tests, finally diagnosed with Medullary Sponge Kidney Disease and a kidney stone. Kidney stone dissolved with lithrotripsy at local hospital. Very kind, patient and thorough.

If he could live in IC patience body for just 24 hours.he would never forget the life we live, dont live.must be nice to eat whatever you want,sleep,not go to the bathroom 100 times in a 24 hour period or more.to be treated like such is cruel.the pain. the lack of kindness.he should no better.why be in a field to help people when in reality you don't.

The worst FRONT OFFICE.

Saw dr. Basata for a kidney stone. Lithotripsy procedure went well but scheduling and pre-op instruction were poor..thankfully hospital called day prior with better instructions. Waited in doctors office for over 2 hours during follow-up appt. Doctor didn't even show up for an 1:15 minutes after my appt time.
