Dr. Samir Gamal Shaker Ishak, MD

Will have you committed without even meeting or seeing you. Calls in your 72 hour orders from another building when at Parkview. Like some kind of malevolent ghost doctor. Seriously, be very careful about those Parkview assessments. They take a break from talking to you to go call your insurance verification (the famous Parkview Wallet Biopsy) then call the physician for admission orders (Ishak will commit you if you are anywhere from Lee Iacocca to William Shatner as long as your insurance checks our).

I was referred to call Dr Ishak from a friend's referral. Her 12 yr old has been seeing him the last 4+ yrs. When I called to set up an appointment I was told he doesnt see children. When I mentioned being referred to him by someone who's child is his patient, I was then told he no longer sees children, only children who are already established patients. The person who took my call could not offer suggestions or recommendations to find another psychiatrist who is accepting children as patients. I heard he was great. I am dissappointed I cannot have my son seen by him. In past we've had such trouble finding a good psychiatrist for my husband. I was hopeful. So even though this site says "taking new patients", apparently he does not accept children, along with most others in town.

Dr Ishak is not too bad but don't count on him to spend too much time with you. He does know meds and listens but I did feel rushed. His office staff, however, was rude and called saying I had missed appts, which I had not without calling and that I was dismissed from his care. Not too impressed by the whole experience and feel there is not a true sense of empathy for the patient. I would not recommend this office.

Dr. Ishak first saw me inpatient where he was kind, understanding, and patient. He spent plenty of time getting my background information in order to make an accurate diagnosis. From there he began seeing me outpatient where he continues to be understanding, polite, and eager to help. He is available by phone or pager for emergencies or questions. Overall, he is a really great doctor and I would recommend him to anyone.
