Dr. Samuel Franklin Adams JR., MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Adams for about 20 years. After reading other remarks I can say that if we had tort reform regarding medical lawsuits most doctors would be somewhat different. I think Dr. Adams is reserved and cautious about diagnosing and prescribing medications. He may not be investigative in his approach but he is willing to suggest a doctor who might be more specialized. He does look at his computer notes but he is reviewing patient history. I hear test results from his staff. Never had a need for follow up from him.

Very rude, impersonal, disinterested, unwilling to listen. Only cares about looking at numbers on computer screen - barely looks up.

Spends no time with you. Asks no questions. Not easy to talk to at all. Doubts what you tell him by raising his eyebrow as if he knows how you feel! Never diagnosed me nor seemed to want to do so. Had assistant call and just said go to a different specialist. You can get an appt. with him soon probably because no one wants to see him! Saw twice. Ran some minor tests and that was it. Flu like symptoms that were persisting. Could of cared less.

I have cofidece in his ability, I would recommed him to family.

I thought that Dr. Adams was personable and efficient. His staff was great. I had a physical for a male... so the prostrate exam is never a great experience, but he was professional and made it quick and painless. He set reasonalbe expectation for test results.

Always caring and courteous, helpful and has always made the correct diagnosis for me. Also has a good referral network for specialists.

If you want a physician that will have his head down during the entire interview, jotting things down, but hardly acknowledging your presence, Dr. Adams is for you!! I've been a patient of Dr. Adams for over 10 years, and he didn't even recognize me when I said hello to him in public. I don't know if he just pretended to not know who I was or if he really couldn't remember a patient that had been in his office, completely naked at least once a year getting a full physical exam. I said hello, and he said "Do I know you?"He is in it to win it...and if winning is getting paid without getting sued...then he sure is winning. He won't acknowledge that you might know about or have researched your own medical conditions, so don't even think about asking him about other medication possibilities or about changing the dosages of your current medications. First of all, Dr. Adams refused to change the dosage of a medication that I have been taking for over 15 years, claiming that he was unfamiliar… with the condition and that he would not alter the dosage because he "thought" it was too high. This would be perfectly understandable if the condition was an uncommon or rare condition that was outside the scope of his practice. But you would think that a "General Practitioner" would be able to take some time out of his busy schedule to do a little bit of research on a condition that afflicts nearly 12% of the American population. Regardless of this inadequacy in "continued medical education", he did the correct action by requesting for me to seek a consult with a physician specialized in that field. After paying several hundred dollars out of pocket to see a specialist and after the specialist altered my medications, as was necessary (only proving Dr. Adams' inadequacies as a physician) Dr. Adams still had audacity to reject my request (as well as the specialists recommendations) to change the prescription. He really cares about one thing...keeping himself out of court. Maybe he should go back to medical school and learn about a little thing called medical ethics.

Went to this office because of other positive reviews. I have chronic back injuries from overseas but came in for a followup after an ER visit from a dog bite. Dr. Adams was arrogant, condescending, impersonal and completely uninterested in checking the status of my wounds. Never even asked to see the wounds other than what was visible, he went as far as to say I had a substance abuse problem because I disagreed with the medication he wanted to prescribe me. I have never had such a negative experience while seeking medical care and was made to feel like a bad person. Also he kept my antibiotic bottle that I handed him when he asked what I was taking. I had to ask for it back at the front desk and of course it was an "accident". Completely bad experience and I left feeling less than human, anyone heard of the Hippocratic Oath? Anyway, steer clear of this man, he does not have your best interest in mind only his own!

I'd always use a doctor from the AMA myself. its the smart thing to do
