Samuel Chun, MEDICAL, DOCTOR, MD

Dr. Chun’s office staff (Wan?) left me on hold 15 minutes and told me I needed to go to the ER, as did several other medical professionals. I called back multiple times and non one answered the phone. I have heard how Dr. Chun was the top hand orthopedist in NM. I can only evaluate Dr. Chun’s lack of responsiveness while at the St. Vincent’s ER. I waited there 3.5 hours and never saw him. He ignored the nurses texts. Perhaps there was a far more important case. I was dismissed without being seen by Chun who is affiliated with St. V’s. Being concerned about a needle lodged in the bone of my finger, I sent images of my X-rays to a family member who works at a hospital. He consulted with orthopedics at that ER who seem to think my situation is an emergency, so here I am waiting again less than 12 hours later. I’m very disappointed in both CHRISTUS St. Vincent’s ER and Dr. Chun. .

I wish I could give negative stars. Had an appointment for 8:30. Showed up at 8:37. Had to wait 6 minutes to speak to the secretary and Was then told that I had to reschedule because I was more than 5 minutes late. So in effect, I was only 2 minutes late. I explained that I drove all the way from Albuquerque and the building was hard to find among the maze of buildings in the area and that as a result I parked over a half mile away and had to wait for the shuttle. She then said that they would see me but I would be treated as a walk in patient and that I may have to wait for hours because they "had to see all patients who were on time first" before they could see me. THEY WERE RUNNING 40 MINUTES BEHIND SCHEDULE ANYWAY! I of course left and drove an hour back home. ALL DOCTORS THINK THAT THEIR TIME IS VALUABLE WHILE THEIR PATIENTS' TIME IS WORTHLESS! They all believe and behave as if this is true and chun and his "staff" are no exception. It is truly disgusting.

Outstanding experience

Dr. Chun is one of the best doctors I've ever seen. He's thorough, considerate, kind, and most importantly, knowledgeable about the hands. Before and after surgery, he displayed such compassion and concern. His work is very clean. His office staff is friendly and his office is quite clean!

These people will never state the cost/expense, they SAY they don't know. Thousands of people enter their office and they don't know!!! How much for the X-ray? Thousands of x-rays and they don't know. $365 for just walking into there office (according to the bill). $200 to poke a needle into my wrist. 15 minutes for the whole visit... cost that could not be presented there on site (I had to be billed), $700. $700 for 15 minutes of work. That comes out to $5.6 million/year for a 40 hour work week. When you get this kind of bill without up front disclosure – get your self a lawyer.

My wife broke herarm. We were referred to Chun by Urgent Care in the same system. He was on vacation. We saw his PA who said we could leave it or have surgery 12 days in the future. The pre-surgery visit was also scheduled with a PA - hence no consult with Chun until surgery. On taking a second opinion with another MD, we learned we should not have waited; the arm should not have been cast; and damage was severe enough that leaving it to heal would result in significant loss of wrist flexion and likely arthritis pain. Needless to say, she has chosen surgery with the "second opinion" surgeon.

I have seen Dr. Chun and Mr. Cook several times, including surgery for my ulnar nerve. While he was working on that, Dr. Chun saw early signs of carpal tunnel, and threw that repair in, since that arm and hand were anesthetized anyway. Both Dr. Chun and Mr. Cook are always polite and definitely concerned for the patient's well-being.

I have seen Dr. Chun over two issues with my hand. I trust him implicitly and always appreciate the gentleman that he is.

I had to have hand surgery and Dr. Chun was amazing. He took the time to explain everything to me and answered my many questions. The surgery went smoothly and I am so glad that I chose him as my surgeon. The staff was incredible when I went for my follow up appointment and they made sure that I had plenty of supplies for my bandage changes. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs to have any type of hand surgery.

he is the doctor that one not only hopes for, they yearn for. brilliant, kind, self-effacing and knows his topic in/out.
