Dr. Samuel Steven Jorgenson, MD

I was in to talk about several issues I am having with my neck after 2 surgeries with other doctors and an auto accident. He didn't say a whole lot, put nothing in the report and just sort of acted like it is what it is. Not impressed at all. Whole visit was a wasted time and a wash.

Samuel Jorgenson did my first cervical surgery when he was still practicing here in California in the early 2000's. He messed it up, it had to be redone, but it is still considered Failed Neck Surgery. I continue to experience chronic pain, weakness, and related problems.

My husband went to doctor Jorgenson to have a bone spur removed from his neck. He went in for surgery expecting to have a bone spur removed and his neck fused. He woke from surgery in a great deal of pain. The pain from before surgery wasn't improved at all, then adding the surgery pain. We went to the doctor multiple times explaining the pain had not improved at all. The doctor never wanted to see us after surgery but the PA sent us for nerve testing and another MRI. The doctor came in on about the 5th follow up appointment and advised maybe seeking pain management. Said surgery was as successful as could be. We sought a second opinion only to find the bone spur was never removed. 3 months after his first surgery with Dr Jorgenson my husband had the exact surgery again by a different doctor and instantly felt some pain relief like we had expected after the 1st surgery. Now having to have 2 surgeries back to back he will always have extra scar tissue and some additional pain that he… may not have had if the 1st surgery had been performed as we had expected and been promised/advised was done. I wouldn't send anyone to this doctor!

If my husband wanted to be Butchered I would've taken him to a Slaughter House. He maimed My Husband. Here come the Lawyers.

Dr J has been patient with us, he listens, he takes time with my husband and myself to make sure he understands our problem by asking questions. My husband had surgery in Dec. 2015 by another surgeon and was way, way worse afterwards. That surgeon treated him like he was a hypochondriac and was terribly rude. We got another view from Dr J. and In April 2016 he. did spine surgery on him again after making sure what his problem was and fixed what the other dr did to him. I feel he does not just jump into surgery until he is sure what the problem is. I would recommend him to anyone that has long term spine pain.

This surgeon ignored our questions and had the wrong diagnosis. We rescheduled with his partner on the next visit who gave us a completely different plan of injections and they worked.

Very grateful for the job he did. Appreciate for what he has done for me. I am in a better state than before.

I am stunned to see the negative reviews. First of all, to the person who wrote 'he (Dr.) won't let us get a second opinion,' that is silly - YOU have the right and power to do so. Dr. J cannot and would not stop you. As far as the other comments, all I can say is Dr. Jorgenson must have changed drastically then, because when I saw him he was knowledgeable, personable, and explained everything. He was my last hope to address the unbearable daily pain in my back and body from an auto accident. He performed the surgery and after the healing period, my pain was relieved and remains so. His follow up was good, and I was completely satisfied.

Please do not see this surgeon, his complication rate is ridiculously high. All staff including nurses, cna's, rt's, other doctors (especially the icu doctors)at the hospital know of this doctor because he is always messing patients up. Then after they go septic or transfer to to icu he dumps them onto other doctors and never takes responsibility for the injuries he has caused. Most of the time he won't even come in to reassess his patient, talk to families, or even answer pages. Then he will lie and cheat to get out of his repercussions, his favorite thing to lie about is "well the nurse didn't tell me that" guess what Dr j? We document ever conversation so we know when you're lying about our coworkers. Also words to the wise don't pick a surgeon who has such broad interests if he's just as interested in hips and knees as he is backs, he's not a true neurosurgeon.
