Dr. Samuel Edwin Murrell, MD

Dr. Murrell is everything a physician should be! He is highly skilled, he truly cares about his patients, and patient outcomes. He listens, and responds to questions with truthful answers. Dr. Murrell has kept me from being paralyzed! He has performed 3 surgeries on my spine ( one on each section.). My arm & hand strength are back to normal, and I can now walk with a cane. PT says I should be able to progress to walking with no assistance. Dr. Murrell has never been anything but helpful, kind, supportive, and professional. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Murrell diagnosed my spinal stenosis several years ago, and recommended a nerve block which gave me almost immediate relief, and it surprisingly lasted several years. I had no more pain running down my leg and was able to walk without having to sit and rest every few yards. I recently returned to see Dr. Murrell because the stenosis is flaring up again with back pain when I stand or walk for any length of time. Dr. Murrell is kind, and welcoming, is knowledgeable and professional, and I trust he will find a solution for me if there is one. The staff is hard working and kind and supportive. I am grateful for Dr. Murrell and his staff.

Outstanding care and devotion to patients

I have used Sam Murrell for over 11 years and he has done 2 fusions, back surgeries on me. The Staff and Dr. Murrell have always taken the time to explain the issues and have always followed up with me. I would HIGHLY Recommend Dr. Murrell and his Staff. Thanks

The staff welcoming me in was very friendly. Dr. Murrell listened to me and helped me get in to see an excellent physical therapist, and now I’m finally feeling better after two years. Just his reassurance made me feel better about everything, very happy I went to see him.

If I hadn't got a second opinion and surgery, I would be crippled. He didn't even read my MRI, started pushing into my back HARD (the other Dr said he shouldn't have as I had a broken back). DO NOT SEE THIS "DOCTOR"!!!

I had chosen this doctor from a work comp panel. He does not listen to you and comes to his own opinions about you. In his first report about me he said I was a very healthy in size. Insult one. With each visit I cried for help over and over again, even after examining me. I begged for him to stop putting pressure on my lower back. That should have told him I was in pain. My MRI was read incorrectly at Baptist Hospital and I don’t believe he even looked at it to catch the error. For nine months of pain enduring physical therapy, I have read the physical therapy reports, he obviously did not. Insult two and three. Sent me back to work on light duty with uncontrolled pain and suffered every hour. My work computer nurse was supposed to be “helping” me but she ignored the signs as well. After 9 months of extreme pain he excused my case. Then he ordered a Mylogram. There it was, plain as day, how severe my injury was right in front of him. No explanation from him or admission of… oversight. 30 pounds lost, lost my job of 35 years. Had he listened to me maybe I’d still have my job. After the Mylogram , he wanted to do surgery. I got my work computer reinstated to cover the surgery, the Work Comp Board wrote a blistering reply as to how for 9 months this patient has suffered and immediately ordered my surgery covered. Two days later I was in surgery. Still no admission from Dr. Murrell of any wrong-doing, ignoring my cries for help. I was hesitant to allow this man to do surgery on me but I had no choice in the matter. . In the end when he wanted to close my case once again , as he left the room, he had the ignorance and audacity to tell me quote “ I Was a very difficult patient to deal with” . Insulted again by Dr. Murrell. Dr Murrell does not document your visits correctly, he will document false information, things that were said will not be documented. He will document what he wants to his satisfaction. I would never refer him to anyone, I don’t care how many plaques he hangs in his office . He will never have my respect as a physician. If you value your health, back and spine, do not put your future in the hands of this man. I told you in a prior post, I would not go away quietly.

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. He kept touching me, claiming it was "testing" and when I saw a real Doctor, he said they hadn't done that type of exam in 40 years. If you want to be able to walk or have any quality of life and don't want him rubbing his hands all.over your bum, go elsewhere. Also- three doctors including two surgeons said his diagnosis was incorrect. He never looked at my MRI's.

This physician is the rudest, most uncaring doctor I have met. I have a broken back and this man wouldn't even hand me a tissue from the box beside him when I started crying in his office. He doesn't explain, he talks over you and then leaves the room. The next thing you know the nurse comes in with discharge paperwork. He did this every time I saw him and left me hanging. I was shocked. I'm so thankful I found a true caring physician because here I am still waiting 3 months later on Dr. Murrell's office to call me to schedule a CT. Pathetic! People like this have no business practicing medicine! I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
