Dr. Samuel Alvin Seelig, MD

To be avoided at all costs. The doctor was fine but his billing department is a shambles and should be ashamed. They did not provide records needed for my case to my insurance. My insurance then denied the claim. I called his office who refused to help me and said I was already in collections. A year of my life taken with over a hundred calls back and forth. A year to the day of my surgery after fighting for months they finally gave the paperwork needed and my insurance paid the bill. A TOTAL waste of my time spent with rude aggressive lack of service, for an entirely simple and routine procedure. A disgrace.

Dr. Seelig's billing department is either completely incompetent, or they are knowingly defrauding their patients and just don't care. After having anesthesia administered by Dr. Seelig, his billing department billed my insurance company (Blue Shield). The claim was denied and an explanation as to why it was denied was sent to them. His billing department then sent me the full bill saying it was my responsibility, and never tried reaching out for the information that Blue Shield required from them in order to have Blue Shield pay them. When I saw the bill going into collections, I called Dr. Seelig's office and spoke with Jasmine. Jasmine explained that I personally had to get the doctor who performed the operation to send a bunch of documents to Blue Shield in order for the claim to be processed. I began trying to reach out to the doctor for these items and was completely ignored for months, and Dr. Seelig's office offered me no help at all to rectify this other than giving me other… numbers to call to track the information down. Once I called Blue Shield and got them involved, they explained that it is actually Dr. Seelig's office's responsibility to get the supporting documents in order to be paid, not mine at all. They also explained that the bill itself is not my responsibility because they are contracted with Blue Shield and this is a breach of contract. Blue Shield was completely shocked that it got to this point and that the bill was ever even put into collections. Blue Shield quickly took action and were able to get the claim processed, but with no help from Dr. Seelig's office. After hearing what my rights are and how this was not my responsibility and a major mess up on Dr. Seelig's billing department's half (or a way for them to score some extra cash from unsuspecting victims), and then seeing other reviews online regarding the same issues, I feel compelled to post this review everywhere I can so people are aware that this will likely happen to them if they have anesthesia administered by Dr. Seelig. I am also looking into filing an official complaint. This is extremely unfortunate as I actually did like Dr Seelig as a person. But this is UNACCEPTABLE.

His billing office is fraudulent. They charged me more than the allowed amount in breach of their contract with my insurance company and are refusing to issue a refund for the amount over charged. My insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross) Spoke with their billing department and informed them of their contractual obligations and they still refuse to pay, so Anthem is filing a grievance because they are in breach of contract. I am filing an appeal with the state department of insurance. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR.

Bedside manner was cordial and unhurried. Put me under for a colonoscopy. Good sleep and no post-procedure problems.

I had the worst experience with this physician. I had a D & C and as my anesthesiologist, he gave me an injection in the operating room and I immediately had blurred vision, and asked what he gave me. He then told me to "lie down" and said "this will not affect your dementia"! I distinctily remember that bazarre comment! I couldn't move, couldn't breath, and couldn't speak. I thought I had had a stroke! I then was knocked out, and came to in the recovery room asking the nurse to call the doctor. He came in and when asked what he gave me, he said "just Sodium Pentathol" . I sent my medical records to another physician, who explained that I had been given "Curare", which paralyizes the patient, and should never be given like that. It took me many months to get over the anxiety produced from that trauma. And it was even more upsetting knowing this doctor lied about what he had given me. Use this doctor at your own risk!!!

I received an epidural from this doctor and had complications. Meaning that I had a splitting headache and was dizzy and light headed for 6 days following the procedure. I could not stand up without having to immediately lie back down again. My husband called the office more than once to ask what should be done, and we were never called back! There was no follow up at all. Their practice could only be defined as a mill, completely unconcerned with the welfare of their patients.

Received epidual injection. This office used 4-5 falicity name to charge. Total billed to my insurance was over $6000! (Billed amount by other doc for same injection was $1550) Even my insurance paied almost $3000 (Dr Seeling is in the network), they billed me $600.
