Dr. Samuel Clifton Willimon, MD

I can't say enough about my experience with Dr. Willimon. I came to him as a 47 year old in 24x7 horrible, life changing pain. After seeing 7 other doctors of varying specialties that could NOT figure out what was wrong with me and various different failed treatments/surgery! Dr. Willimon knew right away this was my hip and suspected a labral tear. He took conservative measures verifying that surgery would be the best option for me. I was frustrated with this at first because I just wanted him to FIX me! Well, fix me he did!! His kind, confident and assured manner put me at ease going into what could have been a very difficult surgery...labral repair with femoralplasty to fix FAI. I am currently 6 months PO and feel AMAZING! He has given me my life back. I am starting to run again. I am working out without pain. I can sit in a car for more than 20 minutes. I can't thank him enough for his patience and expertise in ACTUALLY fixing me! There are so many negative stories on line… surrounding this surgery and I am beyond grateful that I found an expert surgeon with conservative protocol that WORKS. Don't hesitate with this man! You might wait longer in his waiting room but it is worth every single second because he cares for each and every patient. He truly is the best!

I was referred to Dr. Willimon after finding a labral tear and bone impingement on my right hip. I am a avid runner that was anxious to get back to running without pain. I had never had any health issues prior to this injury so to say I was anxious is an understatement. Dr. Willimon was so very patient and kind when he first met with me. He took a lot of time to answer all my questions about my diagnosis, MRI results, and prognosis. This is something that is very rare in the medical field and was so appreciated by my husband and I. His first visit with me he explained why he wanted me to start physical therapy instead of jumping to surgery. This spoke volumes to me because it showed how much he valued me over just being a number and statistic. I continued physical therapy for two six week periods and started to feel down about still having pain. He encouraged me with each visit and took the time to help me understand that this was an important part of my recovery for my injury. He… showed me kindness and patience even when I felt frustrated that physical therapy didn't seem to progress my injury as fast as I wanted. Dr. Willimon then decided to give me an injection as the next step for my recovery to help my pain. He showed me research as to why this was the safest choice for me at this time. He let me have time to think about my decision and even fit me into his busy schedule to get me my injection after my office visit. After the injection was done, he then evaluated me for surgery and made sure I was a SAFE candidate, which speaks volumes as to the man he is. After surgery my recovery progressed way better than my family or I could imagine. The fact that I had physical therapy and the injection prior to surgery helped me tremendously. If he had not treated me as carefully and cautiously as he did, then I have no idea how well my injury would be doing at this time. He set me up to succeed and I cannot thank him enough. He checked on me after the surgery several times and would follow up when I reached out with any questions or concerns. He treated me as he would his own wife or daughter and that is not something you find with every physician in today's healthcare system. I would recommend him to anyone who asks. He deserves more than 5 stars!!!

Dr. Willimon and all of his staff are a Godsend! Our 15 year old daughter had been suffering from severe discomfort and pain in her hip for almost a year when we discovered and confirmed by MRI that she had a Labral Tear and FAI. We had been to another specialist prior to arriving at Dr. Willimons office who stated that our daughter was too young for the operation and "doing so can cause her more harm than good". We had to have her enrolled in physical therapy for several months, despite her continuous pain. She was given a cortisone shot which ended up messing up her leg. After everything had been done we were told that she was having a "neurological problem" and that her pain was NOT coming from the labral tear or FAI. After many tears, frustration, arguing and finally demanding that he do something to help my daughter, we were referred to get a second opinion. We were given Dr. Willimon's information and were determined to research and make absolutely certain that we weren't… going to waste anymore time and find our daughter the help she needed. It was during my research that I came across a review for Dr. Willimon from a mom who had a very similar experience to ours. She too had a young daughter who had the condition in both hips and she too had been dismissed by prior specialists. Her daughter had the surgery and had recovered 100%. Dr. Willimon and his staff were an answer to our prayers! He was attentive , listened and acknowledged and accepted our daughters feedback about her pain without judgment. He was extremely thorough from the very start ordering not only an MRI but 3D imaging so that he could properly diagnose the issue. Upon her diagnosis he put a game plan in action IMMEDIATELY without any hesitation. Her surgery was in Nov. 2019, she has completed physical therapy and is feeling great! We can't express our gratitude enough. As a mom it's hard to trust that someone else would be as passionate as I was to help our daughter. Dr. Willimon was and you can trust him! His demeanor is warm and friendly. Everyone we worked with were sweet, kind, compassionate and set our spirits at ease on the day of surgery and after surgery. His office followed up and were authentically concerned about her well being. Every visit we felt that we had his full attention and weren't being rushed in order for him to move onto his next appointment. We are over the moon with the great service and support we received and will always recommend him in the future.

I am a mom of 4 athletic kids and have been to several Doctors over the years...Dr. Willimon stands out ... He is refreshingly kind, patient and really listens to our concerns...so many times doctors come in with an agenda. Dr. Willimon is worth the wait. you'll be glad you did!!!

My 13 yr. old son was a starting quarterback in middle school before he was in a horrible car accident that everyone said he would have long term injuries from. Dr. Willimon and his team took such amazing care of my son. He was so detailed-oriented taking extreme care during surgery. He treated my son as if it was his own child he was caring for. I was a wreck and he remained honest and patient ensuring we understood everything going on. He explained every process and left no detail to chance. In one year my son was able to return back to the game he loves-football. He performed surgery on my son's knee that was slammed into a car dashboard. He also corrected his broken collar bone. Less than 1 year and my son is like new.

I had the most pleasant experience. He and all his staff were kind, patient, caring, helpful, attentive, and thorough. My first visit I was in extreme pain and he stayed after hours to review all my scans he also called not only check on me but to personally answer any questions I had and further explain the results of all tests. Furthermore he explained all my options and just overall made me feel as though I was the only patient he had. I am thankful for his diligence and I think he is the best doctor I have ever had.

I tore my pectoral in high school (4 years ago) and finally decided to get surgery. We were expecting to have to use a donor aquilles tendon attactched to the torn pec in order for it to reach where the pectoral needed to go. But the best possible case happened and Dr. Willimon was able to massage the muscle enough and got it to stretch where it needed to be. He was very professional throughout the whole process and he’s a great guy. I highly recommend him to everyone.

We were referred to Dr. Willimon after my daughter tore her ACL, LCL, and fractured her fibula. He has been amazing. We have surgery scheduled at CHOA in 6 days. I have complete faith in him.

Our 12 year old son was faced with knee pain in both knees. Planning as a catcher this caused a problem. We went to see Dr. Willimon and he sat and talked us through what our son had, and what our options were. He explained and encouraged other means of healing before surgery. It turned out that our son had to have surgery on both knees. Now a year post first surgery. Our son is running, jumping, playing ball, and acting like a 13 year old boy. We are so grateful to Dr. Willimon and his staff. He really took the time to do what was best for our son.

Dr. Willimon diagnosed and performed surgery on my teen daughter's hip. He has the most comforting, gentle and respectful bedside manner. He was so patient at every visit and was happy to answer all of our questions. We recommend him without hesitation! Excellent care!
