Dr. Sandra Karen Banks, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Banks for the last 10 years. I was diagnosed with prediabetes and high cholesterol. Dr Banks discussed with me the life style changes that were necessary if I were to avoid the need for insulin. 10 years later my weight, cholesterol levels are under control and I do not require insulin (yet). Dr Banks is a brilliant MD who will take the time to answer your questions explain the various options. A year ago we were forced to switch insurance providers (Kaiser). I choose to pay out of pocket to keep the doctor I trust whose professionalism is beyond reproach, a doctor who truly enjoys practicing medicine. I highly recommend her highly, in fact my wife and son now see her as well.

Dr. Sandra Banks has been my PCP for over 10 years and has been incredibly helpful in some difficult situations. She has helped me to navigate the aging process with humor and compassion. She has been spot on when diagnosing several illnesses and always takes the time to listen.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sandra Banks for 3 years. She has literally saved my life. Without her knowledge, I would be dead by now. Three years ago I was nearly bedridden, unable to breathe properly, my heart rate was out of control, I had no energy, I could barely move. Then I made an appointment to see Dr. Banks. I was nervous I would get the same attitude and response I had every other time I saw a different doctor. ( Lose weight, move more, eat less, have surgery). I walked in and explained my concerns and how I was before this happened unexpectedly. She didn't give me the feared responses. She said, " we will figure this out." And she did! My life has greatly improved since that first appointment three years ago. Every time I see her I feel like I am seeing someone who TRULY cares about me as a person, not just a file or case. I feel as if she really does want to make sure her patients have the best life they possibly can through being healthier. She… takes time to listen, she has seen me cry, she has seen me rejoice, and she's been my cheerleader the whole journey. I love having her on my team! I would recommend her to everyone!

Sandra is a 5, her non responsive nurses and attitude ridden medical.assistant are a 1. They don't return calls, act catty about patient problems (I've been a patient for 8 years) and they are dismissive. It sometimes takes 3 calls (always go to vm) for the nurse or assistant to return a call. If I didn't love Dr Banks so much I would have left years ago. I wish she would get a better support staff.

I've been going to Dr. Banks for around 10 years and she has diagnosed me perfect and prescribed just the right treatments every time. I read the other reviews and some were pretty negative which I find hard to believe. My thoughts on that were that she's not a therapist instead she's a wonderful, brilliant MD with a great bedside manner. On occasion maybe some were just having a bad day and deceided to write a bad review. As for me, I've to this day never had a bad experience or bad service. The office has always been pleasant and accommodating. Now there have been times when I had to wait a bit or couldn't get an appointment but that's what is to be expected with such a great doctor. But I'd rather wait for her than go to someone else.

I have been going to Dr. Banks for about 8 years. I also have experience with her wonderful medical assistants, Gemessa and Rose. They all work together like a well oiled machine and are one of the best medical teams I have ever encountered. Dr. Banks is a wonderful doctor and diagnostician. You can literally see her mind working as she sits and actually listens to what you have to say. She appreciates input and works collaboratively with you to provide you with the best of care. She also has an incredible memory and references past medical conditions as appropriate for consideration of current medical issues. Dr. Banks also remembers personal information I've shared with her that impact my life. Gemessa and Rose are such hard workers, so pleasant and and kind, and are excellent at taking your vitals, giving shots, and just generally making you feel comfortable. They all make you feel comfortable and important. Incredible though it may seem, they run on or close to your… scheduled appointment time, and when delayed, rarely extend beyond 20 minutes.

I see Dr. Banks only had one review so i thought i would add another.(thanks Vanessa) I have been with Dr. Banks for 3 years. I have some medical issues and Dr. Banks has always listened to my concerns. She has never rushed me through a visit ever and spends more than adequate time with me so i am happy for that. She is always thorough with the tests that i need run and has recommendations for me. I do get a call back with results promptly. She has never given me a pap with my annual appointment and I didn't think she did those but per Vanessa she does so i am surprised about that. She only asks when i had my last one and gave me a referral to a new gynecologist on my first visit with her. Dr. Banks also appears to remember me when i come in. She remembers my history and even some personal things we once discussed so i am happy that she retains that makes for a better visit. She is very professional though so don't expect tea and crumpets. I have never had to wait more than… 10 minutes to get in to my appointment, n fact last time i went i sat down for about 3 minutes and was called back CONS: The office staff is horrible. I am soo surprised that a bunch of intelligent Dr.'s would allow an office to be run the way it is. The nurses that i encounter do not have a good attitude with the patients. They are very monotone when speaking with you. Very quick and short and tend to complain about things like not having supplies available. I have yet to get a call back the same day with a concern i have. it's usually 24-48 hours later and i have to call Rose back and remind her i called and to please call me back. Checking out is difficult as well. The woman is rude and never has a smile on her face. She barely makes eye contact with you and is rude when you ask her questions. I have been in the office a bit and that is my same experience with all the people there. Adrienne the referral woman is not helpful either. I ask her questions about the test and how i make the appointment and she snaps the orders at me like i am suppose to know what the tests are and exactly how to say them and i should know exactly where i am going. The staff fails to understand that just because they know, doesn't mean us civilians do. I tolerate her staff because I like Dr. Banks, but my last visit may change some things. I didn't like being paraded around the office with my gown and no clothes on. I asked the nurse for another gown to cover my back but she retied it and said i would be fine. She then took me and another man who followed behind me to get X-Rays on the other side of the office. I could feel the air on my back so i knew it was open and i didn't like how uncomfortable i felt in that paper thin gown sitting inches away from the man waiting for X-Rays. I thought that was highly inappropriate! The office is somewhat clean but it appears to be an older office and decor is none. I know petty but just an FYI. This practice has alot of Dr's as well so have your pick. Hope this helps out a little

worst doctor's office in atlanta. they are very mean and disrespectful to their patients. DO NOT see this doctor!

A brilliant caring, diagnostician : which is exactly what you want in PCP. She manages the health care of both myself and my wife and I have referred several friends to her as well. She listens !Thats right a Doctor who listens! Its also a large practice and in a pinch you can see one of the other partners and they are fine as well, however Dr Banks is the one you want !
