Dr. Sandra Leah Nieto, MD

On Friday morning, I scheduled an appointment for Monday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon, I realized I no longer needed the appointment.  So I called Monday morning at 8:30AM to cancel a 1:45PM appointment. I was put on hold for about three minutes, and I was then told I'd be charged a $35 fee for cancelling. When I tried to reschedule for later in the week, I was told I'd be charged a fee for rescheduling.  I was also told I should have left a voicemail on Sunday if I wanted to avoid cancellation fee.  The receptionist was unwilling to work with me, and she referred me to the cancellation policy that I signed at my first appointment with the clinic. After reviewing the cancellation policy posted on the website, I find it hard to square the policy with the receptionist's application of the policy:  "If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hour notice, you will be charged 35.00.  This policy is in place out of respect for the Family Practice and our clients.  Cancellations with… less than 24 hours are difficult to fill.  By giving last minute notice or no notice at all you prevent someone else from being able to schedule into that time slot.  By signing below you acknowledge that you have read and understand the Cancellation Policy for Tandi Medical Center." There's nothing in the policy to address how to cancel your Monday appointment over the weekend.  The way the policy is written, anyone who needed to cancel a Monday appointment would always be charged a fee.  The receptionist said I should have left a voicemail over the weekend: but that is not in the policy.  Further, the policy is written to protect the doctor and staff's time ("out of respect for the family practice and our clients").  Isn't it respectful to call first thing in the morning to cancel that afternoon appointment?  I feel that demonstrates I do respect the staff's time, and it would have been nice to have the respect returned over the phone.  Finally, I cannot find anything in the policy to address the receptionist's claim that I would be charged a $35 fee for rescheduling within 24 hours of the appointment. I understand the need for a cancellation policy that penalizes patients/clients that do not honor appointment times.  However, this seems like a silly way to treat a client---especially a client who is always on time to appointments, always pays promptly, and has never had to reschedule an appointment before. I'll pay the fee because I see that it's important to the clinic to get that fee from me.  Dr. Nieto is fine, but don't go here if you need a front desk staff that will work with you.

Dr. Nieto might be a good doctor but her staff is totally incompetent I wouldn't trust them with a paper cut. My mom is been a patient there for six years and hasn't had any difficulty, so I thought I would try her out because I've been having a rough patch of health issues. My symptoms included headaches strange neuropathy severe vertigo ringing in my ears visual problems. I gave her $169. She took my blood. She was supposed to order a CAT scan utter incompetence staff was unable to fulfill that order. I called the office at least four times they never called me back! For all they know I could be dead! I'm in the healthcare profession myself 25 years experience I have never been treated this bad and I would never ever treat any of my patients like this. Run as far away from this office as possible!

Very balanced Dr. knows what is best for you but works with what is "real" for you. Good knowledge -- real interest in patient and outcome.

I went in with concerns and Dr. Nieto took her time explaining possible diagnoses and treating the issues. After the second visit to the doctor's office, I decided to make her our family doctor. My husband, four children and I recommend this place to everyone we know. Dr. Nieto is a very professional and caring doctor. Thank God for doctors like her.

She was my doctor when she was in Bay City and absolutely loved her. She is so easy to talk to and treated me like a real person- not just like another patient. Would recommend her to anyone.
