Dr. Sandra Lynne Shefrin, MD

If you have MS, avoid at all costs. She has either missed or ignored information on my MRIs and not advised me properly about using DMTs. Consequently, I haven't been on the correct medication under her care and have had disease progression I might have avoided had I been receiving appropriate medical advice.

I saw Dr. Shefrin for some headaches I was having. I didn’t feel rushed during the visit, she spent a lot of time asking me information and answering my questions also. I felt so comfortable with her, she was so easy to talk to and I now have some options for treating my headaches. I highly recommend Dr. Shefrin!!!

I took my mother to see Dr. Shefrin for memory loss. Dr. Shefrin diagnosed my mom with dementia. She explained the causes of dementia and gave me guidance on what to expect and how to manage my mom's symptoms. She spent a lot of time with us and was very kind. I highly recommend her.

The doctor rushed the appointment, invalidated my symptoms, only spent 20 minutes on initial exam because she was running late, I waited for almost an hour to see her. The diagnosis was absolutely inept. I would never see or refer to this doctor again.

I had a difficult problem. I went to UCSF first, and they couldn't help me. She sorted through my records and determined what my problem was. I was very grateful.

Dr. Shefrin was great. I saw 2 other neurologists in Marin who could not solve my problem. I don't know why I wasn't referred to her first! She was thorough, and figured out my problem, which wasn't easy, as it turns out that I have an uncommon condition. She prescribed the correct treatment and has helped me a lot. Additionally, she is very nice.

Dr. Shefrin is a humble, energetic, empathic and cautious doctor. She listens attentively to my complaints (even long-winded ones), shows concern, asks enough questions to understand signs/symptoms, and generally performs an exam before offering an opinion. Unlike my last neurologist, she doesn't simply whip out her prescription pad just so she can clear a waiting room full of patients. She is usually on-schedule and never seems rushed. She explains treatment options clearly and then leaves the decisions to me. And I trust her judgment more than any doctor I've had in years. Wish my other doctors were as diligent, organized and smart as Dr. Shefrin.
