Dr. Sanford Stuart Hartman, MD

Dr. Hartman is an excellent doctor. He explains everything to me about my condition and I have been doing extremely well under his care. I am a lupus patient and I plan to have him as my physician forever!!!!

Dr. Hartman is a seasoned professional. He is diligent, thorough, and no-nonsense. He knows his stuff and isn't hesitant about sharing information.

I have been going here for a couple years now. I have corrected him with my diagnoses several times. I ran into some hard times. I didn't have health insurance, I lost a baby, and life got in the way of me being able to make an appointment. When I arrived at his office, he was rude and told me, "quite frankly, I don't want to be your doctor when the S-word hits the fan". He was very demanding, rude and expected me to explain myself. Including my miscarriage. Cursing at your patients is frowned upon. And treating patients as if they are trying to fool you is laughable. I have RA. And I don't ask for, have any prescriptions for, or want any pain killers. I take only an immunosuppressant. Don't treat me like a criminal.

Refreshing to find a common sense doctor, who looks at the whole picture and doesn't just go by a checklist out of a book.

I absolutely positively think that Dr. Hartman is one of the best RA doctors I've ever had. He makes sure that you are well informed. He explains everything and I've learned more from him in this short time, than any other RA doctor I've had in 6yrs. He is just a great person. I recently had to change doctors due to his secretary. When making appointments she was very rude and made me feel like I was a child. We would be on the phone 30mins or more arguing about my appointments. My request was to have my appointments on or shortly after the 3rd of the month. Dr. Hartman didn't have a problem with that. I asked to have Dr. Hartman call me and she told me that he didnt call patients and I could only talk to her. She was trying to make me take an appointment in Decatur and when I told her I could never go to Decatur because I live in Loganville, she said I will have to go where ever he is. A lot of back and forth made me just cancel my appointment and get another RA doctor. I miss… Dr Hartman and I think he is an outstanding doctor. Even the phlebotomist was excellent and pleasant. I was getting stressed having to speak to the receptionist knowing there would be an argument. So, Dr. Hartman is a fantastic doctor and cared about me and it makes me sad and tearful that I had to end our Doctor/Patient relationship because of one person. I never got an opportunity to speak with Dr. Hartman, but if I could, I would definitely return!! Thank you soooo much Dr. Hartman!

He spends an incredible amount of time listening and explaining.....sometimes too much detail. Office staff is always pleasant and I appreciate Dr. Hartman's directness though I may not always want to hear what he says.

I've seen him three times thus far, but I do not foresee a long term relationship with him. His personality is akin to Dr. House. Also, when describing syptoms that are not "text book" to my diagnosed condition, he always quickly says he has no clue or doesn't know what it is...He doesn't even speculate nor does he suggest what I should do about it. I leave his office very frustrated. If you're a text book case, then he's probably going to take great care of you. Autoimmune diseases rarely are textbook. So...

Dr. Hartman spent the most time with me I've ever had any doctor spend. He listened, then explained things at length (maybe a little too long, but better too long than too short) & then gave me time for questions. He has given me back my life.

Yes, Dr. Hartman is direct - I like that! He is also caring, and gives great medical advice. He takes the time to carefully look at other medical reports, and write down the pertinent info. He listened to all my complaints, and asked relevant questions. I enjoy his wry sense of humor, I think it helps to relax his patients. I have some confusing medical issues, and never felt belittled or written off. I would recommended Dr. Hartman!

This had to be the rudest doctor I have ever met. He talked down to me the whole time, interrupted me to tell me how much he knew and he was just plain old unprofessional. DO NOT GO TO HIM!
