Dr. Sara Goehringer Austin, MD

My initial visit with Dr. Austin resulted in a tentative diagnosis to be confirmed or not by a battery of blood tests. She was caring and informative and did not dismiss my symptoms, as I had wished to do, as just what happens when you get old. I feel I am in the right hands, whatever turns out to be the case.

I am honestly confused as to why some of her patients wrote the reviews claiming she is cold and uncaring. When I arrived, I was very nervous about the EMG procedure, as I am horribly afraid of needles. She put my mind at ease by making me laugh almost immediately! She is a very funny lady!! She explained what she was doing during the procedure so I was not taken by surprise by the electric stimuli or the needle pricks. She explained the results at the end of the procedure, and even took the time to go hand type them for me so I could hand deliver them to my doctor. She and all of her staff are warm and compassionate and very "in tune" to what each patient needs from them. I will gladly recommend her to any and all friends and family members who may be in need of her services.

Dr. Austin treated my brother a couple years ago. In two weeks of extensive testing by various doctors at Seton, Dr. Austin was the only one to pinpoint what the problem was, and went on to refer us to the best possible specialists to begin the proper treatment. Dr. Austin is not only an incredibly talented neurologist, she also has terrific intuition and a comforting way of dealing with patients and their families. Much trust in and respect for Dr. Austin.

I've been to many doctors but non as selfish and cold. She doesn't care one bit for her patients she is all about money, do not waste your time she was a terrible disappointment. There are many great dr out there who actually care for their patients. If your appointment time is 2pm and you call to say you will be 5mins late they will cancel your appointment charge you $50.00 no matter what the reason is . Staff is very rude and uncooperative. I will never go there again. She has no good suggestions or an ounce of kindness. She better know doctors take an oath to save lives and to be humanitarian, but she is a money hungry serpent who thrive on sick and poor people who come to her with a ray of hope. As cold as she is so is her staff. Who sees everything by $$$ . You better know Sarah Austin that God sees everything and god gave you the knowledge and ability to become a doctor and you are abusing what God gave you but you will be punished for your deeds. I hope you read this review… and realize your mistakes before it's too late.

The longer I am a patient of Dr. Austin, the more impressed I am with her and with her staff. Hers is a very structured and precise practice. My confidence level with her knowledge and attentiveness is high. I would recommend and have recommended her.

I don't normally do reviews, but I felt I must in this case. I read previous reviews on this doctor and was a bit apprehensive about my appointment based on previous reviews. WELL I must say those other people were WRONG about this doctor. She is FANTASTIC!! She really knows what she is doing and she made it a point to coordinate my care with my primary. I felt like she was truly making a sincere effort to make sure we all were on the same page regarding the treatment of my condition. I would recommend this provider to everyone!!! Last but not least, I found her staff to be friendly and caring. The manager did a lot to help me understand my insurance and the medical assistant was very kind, understanding and fast.

I began having hand probs in 2007. I was told by a respected surgeon that I had carpal tunnel in both hands, but the right one was done first due to a ganglion cyst. It hurt so bad I decided not to get the left one done. I could ignore the pain mostly. Last year it started to get worse, so I saw a different hand surgeon. He said he couldn't guarantee the surgery would take away the pain, so I decided not to get it done. At that time my hand started cramping and my ring finger would bend on its own. The dr noticed and asked me why it did that. Like I was supposed to know. He was the doctor! So, a little while later, I started having pelvic pain. I was put on Norco for the pain. I had surgery and was on a higher dose of Norco because my surgical wound opened up. I was alarmed because my hand was hurting worse even though I was on all this medication. I went to see the hand surgeon again. He was worried because there were multiple spasms in my hand now. He sent me to see Dr. Austin. I… should have know that there was something bad about her when her receptionist told me that if I was a no show to my first appointment that I would owe her $100. I went anyway because I was in so much pain. While she was doing the nerve test she stuck a large needle in the worst painful part of my hand and told me not to yell. I tried not to, but when I did she told me to keep my voice down or everyone would hear me. She finished her zap test and said that I only had minor carpal tunnel. When I said that I was there for a second opinion she called in another doctor in her practice (didn't introduce me) and then said that she was asking him for advice. Really?! She told me to have blood tests and an MRI done on my brain. I asked her for pain meds because I no longer needed them for my surgical wound. She called my primary care doctor. She said they didn't know anything about my hand. 1. I had been in the day before for sinusitis and told the doctor. But, she didn't ask the doctor, she asked her assistant. 2. She prescribed neurontin and promised that the pain would cease in a couple of weeks. Nope. Didn't help AT ALL. 3. I couldn't afford the MRI. She refused to refer me to a pain management specialist that could help me until I took the MRI. 4. I was insulted that she insinuated that I was an addict. If I were an addict, would I be screaming and crying because the pain is unbearable while I'm typing now? Recommendation: DO NOT SEE DR. AUSTIN. SHE JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY AND DOES NOT WANT TO HELP YOU. Save your money and see someone better!

I had nerve problems in my hands and feet that cause pain. The nerve tests she did that cost me $700 came back normal, and she had absolutely NO explanation of what some other causes could be.I've been seeing a chiropractor (www.docvaugn.com) who has been adjusting my neck, because he said the nerves weren't flowing properly from my neck down through my arms.This was a nerve problem, and I still don't understand how a neurologist with med school and 25 years of experience couldn't offer me an explanation as to what was wrong.She was nice, but didn't do what in my opinion a doctor should do.

I found her to be rude. She prejudged me and made a false accusation against me.
