Dr. Sara Alsterlind Hurvitz, MD

Hurvitz is an amazing person who cares deeply about her patients. On top of that she's at the forefront of innovation in breast cancer care and research. Anyone would be fortunate to have her as their doctor.

From the moment I met Dr. Hurvitz, Jan. 3 2017 I was given support and confidence to follow her plan to be free of breast cancer. Following chemo, surgery and radiation administered by her team, I feel certain there is no one else that could have guided me to be cancer free any better. Aside from her obvious brilliance, she has a wonderful bedside manner. She is kind, caring and patient. God bless her.

Dr.Hurvitz is exceptionally good.

Dr. Hurvitz is an excellent Doctor. She takes very good care of her patients, is current on best treatment options and has saved many lives, including mine.

Dr. Sarah Hurvitz appears on the surface to be compassionate and caring. In reality , if you question her trestment plan or try to discuss issues with her staff she will tear you down with a vengeance. It was the most stressful, uncompassionate, and frustrating experience. Her nurse Madeline Kuiper gets patients confused, has poor judgement and is akin to a bull in a china shop. No response for days when you are ill. Believe the other horror stories. Because they are true. Her staff does not know what they are doing at all. They get scheduling wrong, and none of them take responsibility for their mistakes. It is always the patients fault . Inhumane and uncompassionate are the two words that describe this Cancer doctor. It is horrifying and unethical.

She listens and always considers your thoughts.

She wasn't my oncologist but I went to her for a consultation. She questioned the pathology report results about whether it was her2- or her2+, and asked me to contact a USC pathologist to have it reanalyzed. I didn't choose her to be my oncologist, because another oncologist was closer geographically, however, i was really touched with what she did after my appointment. I tried to get my tissue samples reanalyzed again but the hospital was giving some problems releasing the samples, and i gave up getting it reanalyzed. And so I still had doubts about whether i was her2 positive or not. In the meantime, without me knowing, Dr. Hurvitz personally requested the tissue samples from the hospital and gave it to be reanalyzed by the top-notch USC pathologist. The pathologist reaffirmed the diagnosis making me comfortable knowing that i was Her2 negative, therefore making me confident in my treatment plan...The test was paid for as well, I didn't have to pay anything, and Dr. Hurvitz… did not even need to do this. She wasn't even my doctor! She is very kind to do it for someone that was not even her patient, someone whom she just met once through consultation. i am very touched by this gesture, She is very brilliant, and she will fight to make you healthy. Dr. Hurvitz is everything one could want in an oncologist. She is exceptionally bright yet compassionate and caring toward her patients. Chemo can be a frightening path and she gently walks you through it. She makes herself incredibly available to her patients via e-mail... a big help for me with questions that would pop up along the way. You can ask her any question and she will give you a honest, informed question with no drama. Maddy, her assistant, is equally caring, supportive and empathetic. Prior to starting treatment with Dr. Hurvitz, I questioned her about the negative reviews on this site. Unfortunately a disgruntled patient posted multiple unfair reviews. I suggest you eliminate those from your evaluation of Dr. Hurvitz.

Dr Hurvitz was very compassionate, caring and provided me with a lot of information to make my treatment decisions.

I had my first Chemo treatment and was very sick and hospitalized ...I called, email and never once did Dr. Hurvitz reach out to me..she had her nurse email me..I changed Dr. Immediately...
