Dr. Sara Elise Spettel, MD

The appointment with Dr. Spettel was distressing as she outlined the hopelessness of my situation. She did not introduce herself, ask how I was or doing or anything to indicate she had even seen me. She jumped immediately to her diagnosis without any exam, questions, or showing interest. She read the notes from a recent hospitalization and drew her own opinion. She threw my catheter bag on the floor without consideration of the germs. The interaction with her lacked compassion or kindness. There was very little room for anything other than her ego. There are plenty of good urologists out there, but I would not consider her one of them.

Dr. SPETTEL seemed personable but I had to wait an hour for my 10:15am without anyone explaining the delay. Stuck in a room over 30minutes, no magazines, brochures, pamphlets, NOTHING!! This was my FIRST visit with thus doctor hopefully it gets better.

I felt she listened to my concerns today and followed up with a good plan with other options! She was very thorough and I felt very confident she would help me! She gets to the point quickly, but that's ok knowing she has other patients! She was very helpful to me when I had to have last minute surgery!

Dr. Spettel is as always on the top of her game. She took care of my husband and I in the same room and about the same time asking all concerns and finding results.

I'm very pleased with Dr.Spettel she is very through, and professional. She is very good at explaining all treatments. I feel lucky to have her in charge of my kidney stone issues.

I found Dr Spettel to be very helpful and insightful. She is focused on the issues to be dealt with, but is also willing to listen to new concerns.

First time visit. Office staff were great. Nurse who did the initial part of my exam was great. Dr. Spettel, not so much. I agree with many others, her bedside manner is atrocious. I didn't find her overall demeanor and personality befitting of a professional or a doctor. Also, as this was my very first prostate exam, I expected a great deal more gentleness from a doctor. This lady dynamited that finger up my rectum like she were the little Dutch boy trying to plug the hole in the dam. I wouldn't return to this office under any circumstance unless another doctor were available to see me. I would honestly give Dr. Spettel a negative rating if I could. To be as fair as possible, this was my one and only experience with Dr. Spettel, perhaps it was just a bad day or something, I dont pretend to know her burdens in life, but first impressions matter a great deal, and she horribly missed the mark with me.

I cannot for the life of me understand any review over 1 stars. I am giving 2 because I have never given a 1 star in my life. I have been to see her 3 times, hoping it would get better. She comes in like she just woke up, wiping her eyes and looks like she just rolled out of bed. Then talks a mile a minute, asks super general questions that are clearly in your file (obvious has not prepared for your visit). You feel very rushed, she gets irritated when you ask for clarification and you get the overall impression she cannot wait to get out of the room. ZERO follow up. ZERO effort. I still have no idea what the next steps are. I told my husband, “every time I come to see her, I leave feeling worse”. If you want any amount of bedside manner, empathy or even a fake showing of concern, she is the farthest thing from it.

I was taken in right at my appointment time by friendly, helpful staff. Dr. Sara saw me right away and explained what was to happen and why. The procedure was uncomfortable, but they moved along fairly quickly. Overall, very satisfied.
