Dr. Sara Diane Whatley-Dustin, DPM

I went to see Dr. Whatley when I found a lump in my breast. She wrote an order for an ultrasound, but both radiology centers told me she needed to also write an order for a diagnostic mammogram. Since I didn’t have that, I wasn’t able to schedule an appointment for another 2 days. Her office staff does not communicate/call back patients, and with a time sensitive issue like possible cancer that is unacceptable. After the ultrasound and diagnostic mammogram, the radiologist told me I needed to have a biopsy. When I asked if I could schedule it that day, he said my primary care physician had to write the order. What that meant for me was another 2 days of waiting. Ultimately, I had to print my records from the radiology center website and bring it to the office. (The radiology group had sent it to Dr. Whatley’s office at 2:45pm, almost immediately after the radiologist wrote the order.) Dr. Whatley’s office never called me to let me know that I could call the radiology group to schedule… my appointment, I had to inquire. Even after the biopsy, when I called Dr. Whatley’s office to see if the results were in, they told me they would call me back (but never did). This morning I called the radiology group at 8am to see if my results had been sent to Dr. Whatley’s office, and was told that was being done this morning. After not hearing from Dr. Whatley’s office I called at 4:30 in the afternoon. The receptionist told me that they had been received, but Dr. Whatley would need a day or so to read and interpret. That is unacceptable for a woman waiting to hear about biopsy results. She will no longer be my primary care physician, and Dignity Health has lost me as a patient (as well as my family of 6).

Takes time to listen. Good at diagnosis. Super bedside manner.

I left my doctor of 10 years for Dr Whatley. She is compassionate and caring, smart and almost always on time - which is a big plus for me! Her staff is friendly and caring, especially her nurse who always greets my wife and I with a smile. I have highly recommended my friends and family to dr whatley.
