Dr. Sarah Courtney Bauer, MD

I am not at all surprised that this woman has a score of 2 stars. Ironically, she seems to have a VERY poor understanding of children with developmental disabilities. Her diagnosis for my son was SO off the wall. I've since sought a second and third opinion- both doctors (a clinical psychologist & ped. Psychiatrist) agree that Dr. Bauer's diagnosis is completely inappropriate/wrong (not to mention offensive). Stay away- this woman has no idea what she is talking about. What a disappointment.

I visited Dr. Bauer with my son three times before deciding to never go again. My son was diagnosed with low functioning Autism by Dr. Bauer and sadly, that diagnose couldn't have been further from accurate. After getting no help from Dr. Bauer I sought help from a neurologist, Occupational Therapist and a Speech Therapist. Happily, after 1 year no one even believes he is Autism. He plays with other kids and acts completely normal besides some mild sensory issues. He has also been diagnosed with Apraxia which was the cause of concern for us and the reason Dr. Bauer labeled him Autistic.

My appointment was so unbelievably bad, it was like a parody on Saturday Night Live. Walking in to my appointment, Dr. Bauer and her team had a doom and gloom demeanor, which seemed odd, considering they hadn't even met us yet and heard our story. I felt like Dr. Bauer and her team did not listen to what we said, nor would they answer the questions we raised. She simply would repeat the same thing over and over and over again, as if we were not conscious beings who could comprehend a detailed response. When I asked additional questions, Dr. Bauer would even change the topic! Never in my 40+ years of life on this planet, have I ever been so frustrated with such a closed minded Doctor, nor have I ever been treated so rudely. My appointment was a complete waste of time, considering the treatment PLUS she was actually wrong with her diagnosis. Please, stay away from this Doctor and her rude, eye rolling support team, and save yourself unnecessary frustration!

Very patient and took a lot of time with us toile sure all our questions were answered. Dr. Bauer was thorough and very careful to explain rationale for her medical opinion.

Don't waste you time! Dr. gave us a diagnosis and told me to go to autismspeaks.com for the rest of my answers. At a follow up visit I asked if I should be concerned about seizures since I read on autism speaks website that it would be likely with our son's case and she said not at all! Three months later we spent Christmas and New Years in the PICU. I believe that she cares but is either over worked or under qualified.

Getting in to see Dr. Bauer takes months - a complete charted diagnosis roughly 6-9 months. Dr. Bauer also works with an extremely unqualified (brand new graduate) Psychologist and Speech Therapist who helps with the diagnosis. Also charges insurance a hefty sum which in turns means more bills. So in better words I waited 8 months to get an inaccurate diagnosis. Please save yourself time and heartache and go to a pediatric neurologist.
