Dr. Sarah Mc Kinley Christensen, MD

This is the second time that I took this child to see her. Both times she listened and then did nothing. No blood tests or follow-up. Just her opinion counted. We are changing to another clinic.

Like medical errors, poor patient service and support, and an office manager who is running the team/practice into the ground? Look no further! But in all seriousness, I would like to help save parents from making the same mistake I did if this resonates. Upon specifically seeking out Dr. Christensen after reviewing her biography and background, admittingly with very limited options due to the Open Card insurance I had with a secondary commercial insurance, when I made my first call to the receptionist to inquire about transferring care, she was so helpful and welcoming and facilitated an exception request for Dr. Christensen to review – ultimately my family of 4 boys were approved to transfer to her care! Unfortunately, that is where the warm welcome and support ended. During our initial visit with Dr. Christensen, she stated that she takes a much more relaxed approach with children care, not evaluating typical milestones, etc. that other clinics do because she did not feel that… all kids grow and develop on the same curve. While I can appreciate this standpoint, I feel this could have been easily reflected in her bio/background to better set the expectation- the other piece that should certainly be included there is that she is a vaccine pusher. Illegally to say the least. In a following visit, Dr. Christensen advised it was an interval for vaccines for one of my children – when I reviewed the pamphlets, I let her know I would prefer to wait on the MMR due to timing and it not being necessary at the bare minimum timing threshold. She at that point advised that if I would not be compliant with vaccines she wanted to administer, she would not be able to care for my children. This is threatening and illegal- not to mention very disrespectful of my wishes and stance. To top it off, in this same visit, she did proceed with the Hepatitis C vaccine which she indicated was due. However, at the next visit, I was advised that my son received the vaccine too early and would need an additional Hepatitis C vaccine – wow! Of course, I complied, only to receive a bill for the vaccine that my insurance wouldn’t cover due to medical error. The clinic did reverse this after I brought the bill to them explaining I should have never received that – just like my son should have never received the vaccine too early. Ultimately, I’ve attempted care with Dr. Christensen for the past 2 years to experience these issues, and in my latest follow-up call regarding a clinical concern over my son’s weight, height, and growth, elevated by WIC’s growing concerns and request to connect their nutritionist with my pediatrician, I was informed by the Office Manager that more concerning than my son’s growth and present concerns was that my family had been discharged from the practice due to missing a weight check-in appointment the previous day. This appointment had been scheduled on my first call over the concern, to which I received a call later that day to advise that Dr. Christensen did not agree with supporting my son’s nutrition with Pediasure in partnership with WIC based on her noted growth records – when I questioned this due to the clearly conflicting records with WIC, they requested that I fax the records from WIC to their office and that they would review those and follow-up with me to update from there. I did not hear from them and calling to inquire, as I aforementioned, resulted in my being informed that my son’s health concern was not as important as the fact that they had discharged my family from the practice. This is not good or even respectful patient care- and even worse, this news was delivered by their clearly agitated Office Manager who advised me that she didn’t really have time to hear my feedback regarding the experiences we’ve had because she ‘is the office manager and has multiple meetings’. It is so sad that this team does not even have support from their ‘office manager’ who is only concerned with meetings and discharging patients when medical concerns are too complicated or too much work, and not helping patients and the practice to best propel their healthcare going forward. I will never be seeking care at this facility again in the future and believe strongly that is my duty to advocate to others the importance of a pediatrician who supports your child in their healthcare journey while providing dignity to the child and family and respecting family’s wishes and cultures. You will not find this at Children and Adolescents Clinic – but you will find that right pediatrician! Keep at it – we all need hope for our best health!

Not very thorough & didn't spend much time with my children. Didn't seem to care about my concerns as a parent. Will not be going back to that office.

Great doctor. She sees both my boys and always makes me feel at ease. I highly recommended her.

Will tell you what you NEED to hear which is not always what you WANT to hear but has always been dead on. We trust her completely.

Super-friendly, really cares and my kids love her! Took the time to explain why antibiotics are really not needed most of the time my kids are sick rather than just throw me a prescription every visit like I used to get elsewhere so when she says they do need one I know she means it! Answers my questions about "what I read on the internet" and sends me to better medical web sites to read if I want or prints out info she trusts to send home in case I forget things. Called me when she was out of town because she was worried about my child from when she saw him a couple of days before and couldn't relax until she knew if he was better.

When we first met this doctor, she seemed as though our child's special needs were going to be right up her alley. What we found out was that because he was a special case, it was anything but familiar to her. And she had no interest in figuring anything out. She would give us internet handouts and said our issue was 'very common', yet when her suggestions were things we were already doing and weren't working, we were told it was OUR issue and it would work itself out. Meanwhile, our child was in pain and suffering. She NEVER made us feel validated for our concern and always made us feel as though we were over-reacting! DO NOT recommend her if you are looking for someone who will actually CARE about your child!

I could not imaging raising my kids without Dr. C!!! Mine have never been very sick but I am convinced they would have been juvenile deliquents if not for her tips and how to raise them as toddlers! She should write a book!!!

Would be really surprised if you did not love her and her office.

She listened to me when my other doctor would not and it only took one minute for her to figure out what was wrong with my child after months wasted with a family practice doc.
