Dr. Sarah Jane Gaskill, MD

Misdiagnosed my child and enlisted the state to force me to accept her diagnosis and treatment acussing me of neglect. Perfectly healthy boy with macrocephaly was diagnosed with hydrocephaly by her. It was as clear as "black and white," she said. Now I find out that at the time, her practice was having trouble attracting patients and had to leave town.

I would not recommend this doctor for patients with Chiari Malformation, my child is still struggling with her pain and discomfort. I do not think they spent enough time looking at her case and I will be seeking a second opinion on my child. My child was in the hospital 5 days and she nor her partner never came to the room in person to do a physical exam.

She saved my daughters life. I thank God for her every day.

Worst doctor ever! I would not see this doctor or I would never take my child to this doctor!!! Never. Stay away from this doctor!!

Worst Dr ever.. Her bedside manor is horrible. We drove 2 and a half hours to see her to get help for my son and the first thing she did was grabb my sons cell phone out of his hand told him his headaches when he stands up were due to cell phone usage and improper diet... We later found a Dr that actual helped him.. and diagnosied him with a spinal fluid leak due to an injury in football. Thanks to steriods he is able to atend school headacke free.. Hoping that the leak will heal itself...

Word of advice to those folks who have a child diagnosed with hydrocephalus --- DO YOUR RESEARCH AND GET MULTIPLE OPINIONS IF YOU CAN ON DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE. Also choose a Dr/Hospital who is well know for hydrocephalus treatments and is trained up on the most recent technical advances/research. Not all doctors recommend the best treatment for your child... as with our case Dr. Gaskill only recommended the treatment she performs (shunts) which is subpar to ETV. She advised our son was too young for ETV even though there are several studies that show high success rates in infants over 6months of age and several other neurosurgeons that would recommend ETV/CPC over shunts. Also make sure if your child was born premature that the surgeon is using a corrected head chart that has been charted by a computer not by hand. Dr. Gaskill used an uncorrected head chart which she hand charted which showed a dramatically different % result (40%difference) than the… results we received from our pediatrician and a world renowned neurosurgeon.

Dr Gaskill was nothing but impressive since I met her. One of the most intelligent people I've ever met. I was referred to her when my 20 month old son had a tumor the size of a large walnut an inch down in his brain. I remember telling her before the surgery that my son was my whole life and to please do her best work like she's working on the presidents kid. She grinned at me and assured me that she treats every one like that... Come to find out the type of tumor my son had was called AT/RT. a cancerous, and one of the rarest and deadliest tumors. We're In treatment now, and I've spoke to several specialist and oncology doctors and all of them have been blown away that she removed the entire at/rt tumor.. It is extremely rare to remove this whole tumor, and I've been told by numerous doctors that this tumor has a 10% survival rate for my sons age group, but with her total resection of the tumor it dramatically increases his chances for survival. This surgean is absolutely phenomenal… and I would recommend anyone with anytype of brain surgery needed to her. I've seen her do the impossible with my own eyes.

This doctor is amazing. When we first met her, our world was falling apart. She scared us a little but only because she was being honest with us about our son. I'm thankful for her honesty. She saved my 5 year old son's life by removing a brain tumor and for that I will be forever thankful to Dr. Gaskill. Dr. Gaskill visited our room daily to check on our son for the full 12 days we had to stay in the hospital. I would highly recommend her.

This so called Doctor wanted to just put my daughter on pain meds and shots in her back! She was belittling to my daughter and actually was childish in demeanor by making faces at her. This lady should not be practicing medicine because it is obvious to me that she does NOT care about her patients! Watch out for this one!!

My daugther was born with brain hemorrhage due to blood vessel abnormalities. It causes her to have seizures, and then she developed hydrocephalus. Dr. Gaskill did an amazing job when she had to put a shunt in my daugther. Her and Dr. Marlin make a great team. They stay and answer all question you have. Their staff is great and they all are very caring and can explain things calmly and direct. I'm thankful my daugther has such a wonderful doctor.
