I highly recommend her and feel very fortunate to have her as my Ophthalmologist for many years. She listens carefully, shows genuine kindness, makes me feel at ease, and explains treatment plans clearly to ensure a positive outcome. I had been wearing glasses for years and as I've aged, my vision had become progressively worse. It's been almost a year since my cataract surgery. I cannot say enough about Dr. Sarah Haseltine Van Tassel and the care she has provided me throughout my journey with glaucoma. When my eye problems became serious, my pressures had risen to dangerously high levels—in the 30s—and I was facing the very real concern of losing vision from glaucoma. It was an extremely stressful time for me and my family. Dr. Van Tassel carefully followed my condition, adjusted treatment when necessary, and ultimately guided me through glaucoma surgery when medication and other treatments were no longer enough. What has impressed me throughout this entire experience is not only Dr. Van Tassel’s knowledge and surgical expertise, but also her commitment to protecting my vision for the long term. Glaucoma is something that requires constant monitoring, and I have always felt that she takes every pressure reading, visual field test, and change in my condition seriously. The difference from where I started to where I am today is remarkable. At my most recent… visit, my eye pressure was 19 in both eyes, and my visual field testing was interpreted as stable in both eyes. After everything that has happened, hearing the word “stable” means a great deal to me. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Van Tassel and her entire team for getting me through a very difficult period and continuing to carefully monitor my glaucoma. When you are dealing with something as precious as your eyesight, you want a physician who is knowledgeable, skilled, thorough, and genuinely committed to preserving your vision. That has been my experience with Dr. Van Tassel. I highly recommend her and am very thankful to have her as my glaucoma specialist.

Dr Van Tassel preformed my cataract surgery. I was a little apprehensive about it but when I met her she put me at ease with her warmth and compassionate understanding of my uneasiness Dr Van Tassel took time to answer all my questions clearly and in detail She did not make me feel rushed. Presently I see Dr Van Tassel for follow up appointments. She is very through, before seeing me she has me going through a battery of tests so she can determine how my surgery is proceeding.
