Dr. Scott Lawson Baker, MD

I have had two surgeries on different occasions. I would recommend anyone to go to him.

I was seen by Dr Baker in the emergency room. Excruciating abdominal pain. Dr Baker promptly ordered testings, including labs, X-ray, and CTscan. Dr Baker noted surgery was needed right away. He explained the best and worst case scenario during surgery. Surgery went well Dr Baker was able to achieve successful outcomes. I'm much improved, recovering well at this point. Thankful Dr Baker was on duty in the ER.

I had elective Hernia surgery. Before surgery the doctor presented a different side than post surgery. I ended up having a drainage tube removed too soon. Had Home Health Care Nurse who was very concerned with my post surgery situation. She got no satisfaction calling his office. I ended up in an ER which addressed my complications. I was sent to Dr. Baker and I ended up having the tube reinserted and I was hospitalized for a number of days. I declared that I wouldn't see him again after that ordeal.

The state medical board should revoke this guy's license to practice. He represents everything that is wrong with American healthcare - Please google his name including the following keywords and read for yourself "Dr Scott baker south dakota negligence" - he butchered a woman, removed her healthy kidney (the wrong organ) left the affected organ inside, and both he and the hospital are denying they did anything wrong. I have no complaints about Dr. Baker. He has always been very eager to take the time to explain things to me and with all this negative publicity I will still have faith in Dr. Baker. He is only human and we all make mistakes!!

Do not use Dr Scott Baker. Butcher and incompetent.

I'd rather I didn't have to see him, but since I do it's been a good experience overall. I have really enjoyed having to work with him. He doesn't sugarcoat things-is very upfront-and I trust him completely.

He didn't explain the surgery well and never gave me any alternative treatments. He told me that the surgery would cause no pain and I would be able to go back to work the next day if I wanted to. I had post-op complications, including a lot of pain and he refused to check on me in the hospital. I have not been able to work for 2 weeks because of this. He has no compassion for his patients.

He did a fantastic job on the most awful surgery ever.
