Dr. Scott Christopher Kutz, MD

I had my L4/5 spinal fusion w/ Dr. Kutz after decades of regular steroid shots, physical therapy dozens of times, and a handful of rhizotomies (to burn the nerve endings). That surgery by Dr. Kutz allowed me to resume walking for exercise, get better sleep, and sit in a chair to work! If not for my surgery by Dr. Kutz, I never would have made it through the pandemic lockdown! I have written before about the excellent care I have received from Dr. Kutz and I'm sincerely surprised to read anything negative about his skills or care. His nurse, Julie, is also genuinely compassionate. I have had three or four follow-up visits w/ as much care as pre-surgery - all my questions answered, options discussed, no rushing, friendly demeanor, and solution-oriented service. For me, he's been a blessing and a bright spot in my medical history.

If there was a 6th star, I'd have given it! That's how enthused I am to have been referred to Dr. Scott Kutz, who now has his own facility, MINT - Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery of Texas - alongside Dr. Cattorini's practice on Spring Creek Pkwy in Plano (May, 2019). By the end of the first appointment, I knew I trusted him to do the spinal fusion and discectomy surgery I've been putting off for years, despite recommendations to do so by three other surgeons. He was open, friendly, relatable - not a doctor who is too rushed to answer your questions or too "above you" to explain diagnoses and procedures in a manner that's understandable by a non-medical person. He even left the room and returned with a spinal model to better enhance my comprehension. On visit #2, I returned with a very comprehensive list of questions and Dr. Kutz, wearing a welcoming smile, settled in to answer each and every question. What a doc! This is not typical of my experience. He should be teaching bedside… manner to other doctors. I look forward to my surgery in 10 days.

My brother went in for a simple outpatient treatment. Never came home. 2 weeks aftet my brother died, kutz came to dallas area. Wonder why????? Do not be treated by him period.

If you are seeking a caring and compassionate doctor, see Dr. Lankford. I've seen two other doctors her at TBI and the only one who didn't have the personality of a tick was Dr. Lankford. Dr. Kutz did my Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant, and while I have no problem with the procedure itself, his bedside manners and the way he treated me was less to be desired. After the surger was over, I felt as if he got his money from me and he was done. Zero compassion and zero human skills. I came back a week later for a minor complication (I felt) and severe pain and was treated as a bother to him. He got over $250k for this surgery, but yet I was a bother to him and he Poo-poo'd my pain like it was non existent to me. Please, do your research before looking for your doctor. If your are looking for a "people" doctor at Texas Back Institute, don't go to Dr. Kutz

The visit started with me being told the MRI results I had to pick up from my Oncologist were not needed after I was told they would be needed. Only after I made a big deal about them were they taken and put with my file. I had to fill out a 8 page questionnaire which all the information I provided from my other Doctor would have answered. Then a learning physician came into the room after waiting 30 minutes and explained he was shadowing Dr Kutz he went through a series of questions then said he needed to go get the Doctor. He and Dr Kutz returned and he then went through the same questions only to tell me there is nothing he could do for me and that I maybe having issues do to the medication I am taking then they both shook my hand and said they were sorry and left me in the room dazed and confused. I didn't know how to get out of the office, it is a maze with many corridors and doors. Noone helped me or pointed the way to go. I am more upset with how I was dismissed and since he… couldn't do surgery and perhaps sue someone for an injury I was not worthy of the attention of making sure I knew where to go. I hope that in the future Dr Kutz and his staff will work on this and perhaps if they can not help at least let his patient other alternatives than surgery.

Waited over 2 hours at office before being told he was not there. Had to reschedule for another day. Very disappointing.

If you have back pain save yourself from more pain and hassle and go somewhere else. His nurse is condescending and rude and the doctor is not much better. Didn't listen, was late to the appointment and really a BAD experience overall. Keep in mind in my condition meds don't even help. I was just trying to get an injection in my spine to hopefully allow me to walk pain free or at least manageable. They drug it out for weeks until I finally went somewhere else. BEWARE!

I had been in chronic pain for two years and had lost hope that it would ever be better. I was referred to Dr. Kutz by Dr. Ellis. Although the initial surgery was denied by the insurance company as being experimental,Dr. Kutz perserved and the results have been amazing. He and his staff are kind, compassionate and caring.

Dr. Kutz, Brad and Janet are amazing! They are patient, kind, informative and caring. I would highly recommend Dr. Kutz and his team.
