Dr. Scott Leander Smith, MD

I would entertain meeting with the head of Ortho Carolina to have him/her access my hip replacement Dr. Scott Smith performed. I suffer every day when walking. My gate is a wobble of pain due to his inadequate choice of prosthetic, where the stem of the prosthetic was too short. Two other ortho doctors from two different centers stated this and asked who did the surgery and frowned when I stated Dr. Scott Smith. I’m now taking my case to the board for review. Dr.Scott Smith should not be licensed to perform hip replacement surgery.

I've used Dr. Smith for 2 shoulder surgeries, one on each. He is truly a gifted surgeon and I would highly recommend him. I'm a late 50's athlete and frankly speaking, I would not let anyone else touch me, unless Scott recommended it.

2017 I had hip replacement surgery by Dr. Smith. I went through PT for weeks. I had another ortho doc look at my MRI and narrative. The other ortho Dr. said he messed up, your leg is so much shorter. You have enough shortage to sue him, he was incompetent in this hip replacement! I called my attorney today!!

He did knee replacement in both knees at different times in 2018 did excellent job.

Interesting... they don’t offer a “no star” rating... Condescending, unbelievably poor bedside manner, rude, and frankly uninterested. We saw Doc for a longstanding knee issue, which had been being addressed in our old city (surgery, cortisone, synvisc, et.). My last ortho/surgeon was world class, had a heart of gold, an amazing bedside manner - and never hesitated to offer ample time for questions and thoughts. Unfortunately, we had to relocate, and I don’t think our surgeon wanted to move with us (lol)!!! I was referred to Dr. Suprock, but couldn’t wait three months for an appointment... so this is what we get when we settle. I can only advise, don’t go to him.

Dr. Smith treated my mom 4 years ago when she was in an auto accident, she had to have a total shoulder replacement. After being seen for her injuries in Moore County hospital for her injuries; which was a total mistake. Dr. Smith took one look at her injuries and knew what needed to be done; immediately, she was treated and healing well. Now, fast forward to May, 2017; my mom fell in her kitchen. She had seriously injured the other shoulder... there was no question who I wanted to take my mom too. Dr. Smith perform surgery on her injuries and she is recovery nicely. I think Dr. Smith is truly blessed by God and God has given him a gift of helping others. His professionalism is above standards and I thank him for giving my mom her life back.

Dr, Smith and his staff are professionals whom I trust. He explains your condition clearly, outlines options, and treats as appropriate..

I was in severe pain. I've had knee trouble for years. They are finally giving out. I'm also a big, beefy guy, so that adds to the pressure and pain in my knees. Dr. Smith acted like I wasn't worth talking to. Getting him to describe for me what my options were was pointless, and he never did actually give me a diagnosis and discuss any options with me. He acted like I deserve the pain because I'm a big guy. He even actually said to me, "Well, look at you! What do you expect?" I have NEVER seen less compassion or less of a professional attitude in any doctor I've ever visited in my life. He even walked out of the room while I was still trying to get some idea of what exactly was causing me the pain and what could be done about it. Ask a question? No way. He acts like asking him a question is a personal insult. I walked out of there feeling like I wasn't worth his time or effort. If you're a Carolina Panther and have an injury, I'm sure he's great. Anything less than the perfect… athletic specimen of a human being and you should just suck it up, expect to fall apart and deal with it without wasting his time. All this after waiting 55 minutes in the waiting room and exam room, then having him spend 10 uncomfortable minute with me. He did give me a shot of something. I even had to ask him what it was. And any answer I did get from him was a word or two...just enough so he was at least giving me some kind of answer. I swear this guy should not be allowed to interact with human beings.

HORRIBLE experience - does not follow up in a professional manner. I was shocked at how poor my experience was - repeated attempts to simply have him call me fell on deaf ears. Poor excuse for a "doctor"
