Dr. Sean Christopher Coleman, MD

Had my first visit with Dr. Coleman today, will be recommending him to people with thyroid problems, very nice and explains things very well. A very wonderful Doctor.

I just left my primary care physician where he read notes from Dr. Coleman per my visit with him a couple of months ago. This Doctor totally lied in his chart about what he discussed with me. I remember his office visit well. I left his office in tears because he made me feel as though I was a total idiot for even being there. To begin with, I have toxic nodules on my thyroid. I cannot take the medication prescribed for this condition because in doctor speak I am part of the 2% of the population where the medication damages my liver. During the visit, Dr. Coleman kept stating that my last lab work show my tsh levels at .1 and that I would have to wait until my T3 or T4 was abnormal to have anything done. I knew this was incorrect, my last labs show my tsh levels at .0005, and all the ones before that were at a complete 0, and still are. I told him this. My whole reason for the visit per my endocrinologist was to discuss either my having radiation or thyroid removal. He said I… did not need anything done at all, I was not bad enough to need anything. As a matter of fact, he specifically stated, "Well, your heart rate is at 60, its not fast". I told him, I am on heart medications for my palpitations, and my heart Dr. had actually referred me to another surgeon in Chattanooga, but they did not take my insurance. At that point he stated "well you can have them do it, it won't hurt my feelings." The whole appointment was horrible. At one point he stated that I have had 4 doctors to tell me I did not need anything done......Well, what did his notes say? That he discussed with me that I need to have either Radiation, Surgery, Lithium or PTU. Not at all true. My sister had visited his office an hour or so after my visit for her own para-thyroid needs, and while he was dictating his notes in the hall way could over hear him and his nurse discussing a case. My Sister did over hear Dr. Coleman say to the nurse "Her TSH WAS AT ZERO? and the nurse replied yes. My sister, who I had already talked to about how horrible it was, knew at that point they were talking about me. He did schedule me an ultrasound, which I cancelled, because in the office he made it sound so unnecessary. His nurse called and asked why I had cancelled. And I stated to her "Dr. Coleman said I did not need anything done to my thyroid as of yet, I have had lots of ultra sounds, so why do I need one now." She asked me if I wanted to come back in to see Dr. Coleman, and I asked "Why should I, he says I don't need anything. If the Doctor Coleman had discussed with me what he wrote in his notes he had discussed with me, don't you think the nurse would have said so at that time?. This doctor is trying to cover his butt. He was either looking at someone else's lab work or file, not mine. But the worse part is the lying in his doctor's notes on my file so he would not look bad to other doctors. A complete liar. I think this kind of lying should be reported to a medical board. This could mean life or death to some people. Make sure you either record him or have someone with you to back up what he says. This doctor is a liar. As for me, I am heading to Emory in Atlanta.

I have been dealing with a strange neck pain for almost 5 years. My primary care doctor had told me every year when I had my physical that it was probably stress related and didn't look into it any further. With the pain still happening, I asked to be referred. He referred me to Dr. Coleman and he was able to diagnose my problem very quickly and unfortunately for me it was a scary diagnosis, that didn't go hand in hand with my age so I am so thankful that he listened to me and took me serious instead of dismissing my concerns like my regular dr did for years. I'm very thankful to him and for him.

First, he charges too much money. And even when you have insurance, you MUST pay what "they" believe your portion is before insurance has paid their part. This is the first and only place I've seen this. He has no bedside manner. He's brusque, unsympathetic, and curt. He tells you you "aren't that bad" even when your symptoms are horrible. He does NOTHING except turn you away (or he did us), and then charge a ridiculous price. Find someone else. I know that's hard when you live in Dalton, but I do NOT recommend this man.

His knowledge is good! His practice stinks! Two hours plus wait....tried charging twice for same same....Intentially...he lied!!! If you want to know why we are in trouble with medicare...go see him....he'll show you all the ropes in how he cheats the system and you....After all he has to pay off that Mercedes!!!

My daughter loves Dr. Coleman. She usaully is terrified of doctors but she is very comfortable with him. One day when he came in the room she just started singing him a song. He doesn't just talk and rush out. He actually cares. He has done surgery on my daughter 2 times for 2 different reasons and he is the BEST!!!!!
