Dr. Sean Eric Fitzsimmons, MD

I went to see Dr. Fitzsimmons on a referral from an emergency room after I had broken a bone in my finger in an accident. The emergency room wasn't sure whether I needed surgery or whether a cast might be indicated. Dr. Fitzsimmons gave me an immediate appointment. I brought the X-rays from the emergency room with me. He looked at them and told me right away that he could tell from the X-rays I needed surgery and I had to have it soon or the result would not be optimum. I was in pain and could hardly think straight but Dr. Fitzsimmons took charge of everything. He examined my hand, explained in depth what the problem and solution were, what risks to look for and what procedures to follow before the surgery, and after giving me a choice of a few top surgeons, and making sure I copied the contact info for each of them, I chose the one Dr. Fitzsimmons recommended first who turns out to be of the very few most acclaimed hand surgeons in the city. That referral enabled me to set up… an appointment the very next day , with Dr. Fitzsimmons calling the surgeon to make sure his office would see me right away. Dr. Fitzsimmons is without question one of the few best doctors I have ever seen--extremely knowledgeable, personable, gracious, upbeat, generous with his time and a terrific communicator. He was so engaging and reassuring and 'take charge' that even sitting there in pain with a bone pushing out in my finger, I enjoyed the visit with him! I could not recommend him more highly.

I called and had my insurance verified the day before the appointment. Then I took a day off from work and went uptown to only be told that he miraculously did not accept The Empire Plan.

Dr Fitzsimmons is the best orthopedist I have been to many other doctors who have not helped me. I have a bad knee and he has been treating me with such compassion with all my complaining. He is a wonderful person who is truly concerned with my problem. I am so fortunate to be his patient.

Dr Fitzsimmons is so patient and kind. I was very anxious about my diagnosis but he put me at ease I was so impressed with his personality and warmth and his knowledge.

Dr. Fitzsimmons has provided me with great care for a number of sports injuries. Not only is he very knowledgeable, but also seems to really care about the well being of his patients. I've never been made to wait more than a couple of minutes to see him, I've never felt rushed in his office, and he always makes sure that I understand everything before I leave. I can't recommend him enough!

I've gone to see Dr. Fitzsimmons on multiple occasions for multiple sports-related injuries (I get hurt often unfortunately!). He has always been very accommodating in terms of getting me on the schedule and through the system. He is very honest and surgery is always his last and least preferred option which is very different from other doctors I have seen. He is always very professional and very thorough.

I had an outstanding experience with Dr. Fitzsimmons, who treated me for a torn ACL. Not only was he extremely thorough and incredibly knowledgeable, but he was a true professional with an excellent bedside manner that made me feel completely comfortable.

So refreshing to find a doctor who takes the time to listen and collaborate to get to the bottom of my pain and find a solution. Dr. Fitzsimmons has treated me for back and knee pain and has guided me towards better health and less pain. Highly recommend. - Brad L.
