Dr. Sean Mcbride, MD

To those of you who appear to be rating Dr McBride on waiting times, please reconsider this. First of all it is a specialty hospital where many patients are sicker than Dr Jones private office down the street. Next, where have you been in the last 10 years, we all wait. Seeing a medical specialist is not like a walk in clinic. Of curse there are primary care docs running p[eople in and out every 15 minutes but in reality it is unrealistic. Now I would expect that I was being informed as to where we were in the waiting process. I would want to know that they didnt forget about us. That is reasonable. But again as for waiting in the current world of medicine 2 hours may not be unreasonable. Oh and if the doc is excellent like Dr McBride, its certainly worth waiting for. Respectfully to the unhappy writers i ask you to consider this.

This doctor is outstanding. He is approachable and will go to the nth degree for patients. He is incredibly bright. He is compassionate. He has saved my life with his decision to treat in one path where local docs wants to go a different path. I cannot thank him and the Medical oncologist Michael Morris enough.

While I have waited in exam rooms, it was my impression from the attention paid to me a delay is to be expected when the doctor takes time with the patients. Dr. Mcbride answered my varied questions, clearly stated the evidence, was thoughtful and respectful.

He is human, informed, responsive, open-minded and collaborative. Dr. McBride orchestrated my two months of hormone and daily radiation treatment like a symphony conductor...making small modifications along the way based on instincts and expertise. He was always available to answer my questions or address any concerns. I made the right decision on THIS dude!

I want the best expert in the field therefore went to Dr Mcbride, but not certain I would do again. Going through Radiation is a bad enough experience, but it reached another level in this Dr's office. As the other poster mentioned, there is no respect for the patient. I waited several times for up to 2 hours to see the Dr. They finally would stick me in the examining room only to wait longer with absolutely no word given by the nurses. Once they put you in the room, the staff/nurses disappear. Communication does not exist. Dr McBride is an excellent Dr, very well qualified and sometimes pleasant, but Sloan Kettering IMO is seriously flawed in their administration, scheduling of appts, and training of employees including Dr's. If you understand this going into it, and know that you cannot count on your appts being on time, then maybe you can get through the incredible stress you will be put through.

Dr. McBride is a highly qualified physician. Unfortunately, in every visit I have been kept waiting a long time, between 1 and 2.5 hours! In my view, if you have an appointment for a specific time, you should not wait 1 to 2.5 hours to see the doctor. This reflect disrespect for patients, even if Dr. McBride does not mean to disrespect his patients. Because I am knowledgeable about the various treatment options, and have look into the specialists for each option, I know that Dr. McBride is among the top prostate radiation oncologists in NYC. Thus, I have decided to continue under his care.
