Dr. Sean Peter Tirney, MD

Not To Be Trusted!! Always get a second opinion. Dr Sean Tirney (an albuquerque, New Mexico based Presbyterian Hospital provider) refused to follow a logically prescibed emergency room doctor's diagnosis and recomended course and prescribed treatment to treat my ER diagnosed enlarged prostate related UTI with viable profesionall prescribed five day antibiotics as a/the first step in treating Blood in my Urine. Doctor Sean Tirney insisted we begin with a number of expensive inpatient and invasive procedures in the Albuquerque Presbyterian Hospital after a full week of guinea pig, testing' probing with an suddenly aggravated and aggressive bedside manner. Dr Tirney also threatened me with insurance recommendations of nonpayment that he would personally sue me for and that he could circle the wagons and convince the insurance company to not cover all of his many prescribed test, which resulted in no definitive, diagnosis or viable treatment of my conditions. Unfortunately, like so many… doctors practicing today he alway phrased his treatment in a manner that suggested I decide my own course of treatment in terms out of a number of seemingly illogical options rather than first treating the professionally diagnosed ER UTI. While I was hospitalized for more than five days I made effort to speak with him about the lack of results and the potential exposure to many numerous blood-borne communicable diseases that I might contract from being veteran and a too bedroom with three different patients over the 5+ days, He condescendingly rolled his eyes and told me I was not accepting the advice of a medical professional. Almost immediately after that, the nurse on duty. Also started pressing me about not accepting the advice of a medical professional. And in a roundabout, threatening posture informed me that I could end up being held responsible for all of his test and the hospital stay. They both did their best to convince me that I was basically ignorant, and "cutting off my nose, despite my face" and that I would very likely be charged for all his and her involvement in my care, regardless of their results. I was very disappointed to say the least in the aggressive change in treatment consultation, and tone. They insisted I sign a document stating that I had not accepted their "professionally recommended treatment". During my weekend in the hospital, I acutely observed many things that I will not include here that concerned me. I tried my best to keep a cordial relationship with his nurses and other technical staff, but once they decided to circle the wagons, I had to insist on my immediate from the hospital i.e. a lack of confidence self-discharge out of serious fear of retaliatory malpractice and possibly deadly consequences. I advise potential patients to consider critically and extremely carefully any clinical advice or diagnosis this doctor presents for their approval.

Said the procedure had mild discomfort associated with it, wrong. Why when they scope you to your kidney with a laser to break up a stone and come out with a piece of it would they not put a catheter in while they are there. Horrible pain because I could not urinate, good dr. Lousy procedure.

He answers all questions in a manner you can understand. Puts you at ease. Sometimes the exams are not easy, but thats the nature of urology and he makes it tolerable. He recently moved from Atlantic Urology and they won't reveal his new practice address. I will search him out and resume follow-ups. I would recomend him to friends. Can't comment on bedside manner, but office manner is 4/4.

I arrived at 9:47 for my 10 AM appointment. Was called to the inter office around 10;10. After waiting for an hour and a half, I left at 11:30.
