Dr. Shabbir Abid Abbasi, MD

I came to Dr Abassi after weeks of debilitating migraines, along with a series of other symptoms. With covid, he scheduled a Zoom call with me. It lasted 13 minutes. He didn't seem to be compassionate, and in fact, he seemed really disinterested. Even after explaining that I was not functioning. My days were spent balled up, crying and terrified. He hastily put me on the worst beta blocker of the bunch, to which i had near fatal side effects from. When i called to report this, his secretary called 5 hours later to tell me to just stay on them, it would pass. I tried for another 2 days, and after another ER trip, my PC weened me off. I called again to set up another appointment to discuss treatment options and more scans. He never returned my call. I called again, and no call back. He did send me for an MRI and when that came back clear, he had his secretary call me to tell me it was unremarkable. I asked for him to call me back to see where we could go (this is now 5 weeks in of being… in non stop agony. His secretary called the next day to say "It's not neurological. He said to go back to your PC." WHAT??? I had to start over again with a real neurologist and was finally diagnosed with Occitipal Neurolgia...a NEUROLOGICAL migraine condition, for which I am now being treated appropriately. When I asked the new neuro why Abassi couldn't have worked with me on this diagnosis, she had no answer. It is migraine 101 and he should have been able to easily diagnose it and save me a month of additional pain had he cared enough to treat me as a patient. Or even human. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. Seek help elsewhere.

Has always had positive out look on prognosis an listens to what you have for problem.The Staff is also very good an makes you fell human .

My dad saw Dr. Abbasi over ~7 years with Parkinson's. Medical training was too different in Karachi 30 years ago: Abbasi seems disinterested in patient education or treating thoughtfully. Dad hallucinated; secretly thought he was crazy. From an Oliver Sacks book I asked if he had them, to his relief. We researched meds, my dad brought them up, Abbasi prescribed, and it would improve. Why did I have to "treat" my dad? Dad died unexpectedly: a heart attack; common in PD, but we were never told.

I like Dr. Abbasi. I have migraines and he tried everything to get rid of them. We tried different medicines to get rid of them. If they did not work he made sure I came back 6 weeks later. If I was running low on medicine and couldn't get my presription right away then he would give me samples to tide me over. He has always been very polite to me.

This guy was a jerk. He made up his mind in the first 3 seconds that we met then handed me a photocopied brochure about the diagnosis. This was the very first visit, and it lasted for maybe 13 minutes max! I kept asking him about my other symptoms him, and he stuck to his first diagnosis, which proved to be totally wrong. If you need a neurologist, stay clear of him!
