Dr. Shahla Nader-Eftekhari, MD

We met Dr. Nader about 18 years ago after being referred to her by a regular OBGYN, the reason; we were not able to get pregnant for about 10 years into our marriage. We had our first visit and she checked my chart, my age and looked at me very closely (weird around my neck and under my arms). Kind of quite lady, but with no hesitation she said “I believe you have polycystic ovaries” but we need to run some tests. She looked at her nurse, who gaved us instructions about the tests and that was it. Well guess what, she was right. During our second visit she offered a plan, that it was going to be expensive, but she took time out of her busy schedule to write letters and went above and beyond to answer ALL of the questions from our insurance company and after that, we were ready to start. For those who do not know, 20 years ago infertility was consider an “Optional medical treatment”. Yes, like I opted to be infertile and insurances did not cover ANYTHING. Well Dr. Nader helped us so our… insurance had to pay for as much as the law required for any insurance to pay! Dr. Nader told us it was going to be a long process, she never made any promises but she was ready to fight with us ALL THE WAY! I can now tell you, that we have 2 handsome sons and they are 15 and 12 years old. Dr. Nader and her patience, knowledge and care made it happen for us. I am taking the time to write this because I just stumbled to some horrible reviews about her. I am looking for her again because now after almost 20 years I need a second opinion about Thyroid cancer and I know she is an endocrinologist and with my eyes closed, I will put my life in her hands. To all the people who wrote the sad and negative reviews: I know going to the Dr. is stressful and I empathize, during our journey to get pregnant we visited tons of doctors and it so stressful. That said, after really getting to know Dr. Nader and yes seeing her short answers and busy with her students and apprentices there in the room, and trying to do SO MUCH at ones, and yes maybe feeling that she was not focus on me . You owe it to yourself to give her one more chance because this lady is brilliant! She is not from the USA and yes culturally might be a shock for you, but believe me when I tell you. Her intentions are not about what she wants or about her. She is so focused on using her years of knowledge to find the right plan for YOU. I hope this review helps people who just want to know more about Dr. Nader and I am sorry to the people who do not agree with me but I know from the bottom of my soul that Dr. Nader will be there to help you, if you can set aside the cultural differences that she shows. Remember brilliant people are not what we consider normal.

All she cares about the money and she don't care for the patients. She deserves zero stars because she is not professional. Don't waste your time and money seeing this doctor because you will be disappointed. Based on the other reviews, she does gets on that computer which I find a problem.

Don't recommend at all. She is very rude and she doesn't know how to communicate with the patients. One of the worse doctors I have ever seen. Poor bedside manner.

I saw Dr. Nader in 2016 for thyroid issues. She followed my labs for 3 months & tried to convince me I had Graves' Disease & wanted me to take some serious medications. I voiced concerns with this plan because my labs were improving, I tested negative for the Graves' Disease marker, & my symptoms were resolving. She told me if I didn't take the medications I would die. I got a second opinion a month later with Dr. Shiver @ Memorial Hermann (she is AMAZING!) and all of my labs and thyroid ultrasound were normal. She diagnosed me with Subacute Thyroiditis which resolved on its own and my labs have been perfect ever since. The medications Dr. Nader prescribed would have ruined my perfectly healthy thyroid for life.

She was widely talked about and that was what influenced me to try this physician however it was difficult to comminicate with her. She is not a good listener. She has a preset of questions she asks for and doesnt want to hear anything more as she considers it irrelevant. I dont see much critical thinking but more of the hurry up and get out of my office attitude. I waited 2 months to get an appt and then she gave me about 15 minutes of her time. I just wasnt impressed.

I have been her patient for over 20 years! She is concise and to the point. Dr. Nader is not a " warm and fuzzy" type of Doctor, but has always been friendly and gracious to me. I value her expertise and skill and we have always had an excellent doctor/ patient relationship.

I waited for 2.5 hours to see this Dr. That is unacceptable. When I finally did see the Dr. she was rude and condescending. She did not listen to my questions. She stated that my medical history was totally irrelevant, and dismissed my symptoms as "not bad enough." She shushed me @ one point and said that when I have a medical degree I can talk about what concerns me. Unprofessional, unfeeling, and not something ANYONE should have to deal with.

I recommend Dr. Nader to ALL of my friends...that how much I trust her judgment and knowledge. I had been trying to get pregnant for about a year and Dr. Nader has been with me all the way. She calls with lab results herself, not a nurse, and when I call, she sometimes picks up her line herself. Where can you find that in this day and age? She may appear curt and uncaring but that is not the case. She answered all of my questions and addressed each concern, wanted the same thing I wanted, which was for me to get pregnant as soon as possible. She even hugged me when I did become pregnant. I wish she was closer to where I live so I can see her more often!

I visited Dr. Nader's office last week. I was little worried about the reviews I read but my experience was great. She was great she explained everything to me and make sure I understood everything she said. After my visit herself called me up with my lab results and gave me her recommendations. Nowadays it is very hard to find a doctor who will call you for your test results. She was very courteous and prompt.
