Dr. Shahnaz Younus, MD

I saw Dr Younus in the hospital during a period of my life when I was very depressed. She was verbally abusive to me during my four day stay in the psychiatric section. She treated me like I was dirt. I would not recommend her to anyone who is trying to get better. After that incident, I never again went to a psychiatric hospital.

Dr Younus is very hard on her patients in her diagnosis and completion of medical records. When a patient has an in-patient stay, she always takes the side of the nurse or therapist and claims the patient is delusional. If a patient has a problem or feels he is being mistreated, and he makes his complaint known, Dr Younus will twist it in such a way to make the patient look at fault, look bad, or look crazy. At Fairmont General Hospital, in the psychiatric ward, the nurses and female therapists are very unprofessional and do not respect their patients. Dr Younus does not respect her patients. She jumps to conclusions when she receives feedback from team members in ths hospital and is not concerned about how patients in the psych ward are treated. They are not treated well. She was very critical of me in her notes about my behavior and lacked empathy and compassion for me as a human being. There was a man who committed suicide at Fairmont Physicians Clinic a few years back. He brought a… gun into the clinic and shot himself. This incident was swept under the rug. The psychiatrists at this clinic and also the staff at Fairmont General psych ward are very pompous and uncaring. I will never contact Dr Younus for help again with my mental health needs and I would recommend to others to find another doctor. Doctors get paid a lot of money here in West Virginia, and it seems that many of them are pompous and uncaring. Doctors who behave like this get sued more often than doctors who have a positive bedside manner.
