Dr. Shanan Brinson Munoz, MD

I had an appointment with Dr. Munoz today. I cannot say enough good things about her! She was so thorough, organized, and thoughtful. I don't think I have ever had a doctor spend so much time with me, which meant a lot. I also don't think I've ever felt led to leave a review for a doctor, which says a lot. I was nervous going into my appointment (mostly because I was concerned I would be rushed like usual at doctor's appointments), but I walked away feeling like all my concerns were addressed with kindness and expertise and that she had put a positive action plan in place. If you have any neurology concerns, you will be lucky to have Dr. Munoz on your team!

Unfortunately Dr Munoz missed my serious diagnosis and recommended that I reduce my stress and join a mother’s group. While she has a very good bedside manner, once she ruled out MS (her specialty) she didn’t look any further.

Dr. Munoz makes you feel as though you are her only patient. Her wonderful bedside manner continually encourages me and lifts my spirits, with each visit. My only regret is that I can only see her every six months. It was worth the wait for the time I was wait listed to become her patient. :) The last four + years have been great!!!!

In 2009 I consulted Dr. Munoz for 1 specific complaint: left foot paralysis occurred after a traumatic human-trafficking-related event I had just suffered. Dr. Munoz never addressed my condition, instead issued a medical report that EFFECTIVELY SILENCED ME about the crime until 2018: it stated false diagnoses reminiscent of those the criminals had at the time threatened me with if I disclosed anything (mental illness and imprisonment for it) – thus this medical report facilitated the obstruction of U.S. justice. The background was human trafficking: in 2008, my military-veteran spouse and I (EU-born female) were targeted by a well-networked criminal ring in the D.C./MD/VA area with the purpose of defrauding us and trafficking me. The strongly-networked D.C. criminals’ plot was thwarted by an honest State Department official, but not before I suffered personal injury: the criminals’ pressures peaked with threats of disease-inoculation and a mock substance meant only to frighten me into… obedience, but which in fact caused a heart attack in 2008. After relocating alone to TX with my spouse’s help, I consulted doctors to whom I briefly disclosed the crime; Dr. Munoz was one of them. Her report issued after a sole 20-min. visit -- for left foot paralysis -- is outrageously false, ignores and undermines my description of that typical human trafficking crime, and characterizes me with the words “bipolar disorder”, “bizarre Police story”, “psychosis”, “delusions”. Dr. Munoz’s report also insanely states “restless foot syndrome” – she asked me to walk around, then wrote “she is pacing nervously while with me”. There are references to my physique and clothing, too, that imply a false disreputable portrayal – one trick that sex traffickers typically use to emotionally hurt and socially isolate their victims – while, in reality, I’ve had impeccable social standing and 2 college graduations, have been a life-long teacher focused on studies, family, and faith. Dr. Munoz’s false report, portraying a looney that has nothing to do with me or my history, might have assisted the same traffickers in 2017 when there was a repeat trafficking attempt (apparently for identity swap overseas) at which point I finally disclosed everything to Police and U.S. authorities at large. On a last note: this crime occurred because I had offered my MA-degree qualified patriotic services to D.C. federal agencies and my ex-Navy spouse supported me – unfortunately, the D.C. criminals perceived our patriotism as a vulnerability to be exploited. The medical report issued by Dr. Munoz was not corrected by her office despite my polite letters asking her to correct it. Dr. Munoz’s medical report is presently being denied by me again as false and a document that wittingly or unwittingly has served to cover up human trafficking by intimidating me into silence in 2010. I looked my usual self when I visited her, not as in her misleading description; I had never experienced the symptoms/diagnoses written by Dr. Munoz, nor were such illnesses discussed during our consultation, thus everything she wrote is false data which she unexplainably refused to correct. After my neurologist at UTSouthwestern relocated, Dr. Munoz became my new neurologist. Maybe she was having a bad day when I initially met her, but I walked away feeling definitely UNDERwhelmed. She did not seem to have much knowledge of PRO-ACTIVE SUPPLEMENTS for brain health, such as Omega 3's, which is a well known ANTI-INFLAMMATORY. Other visits with her have been routine. I decided to become my own health advocate in learning all I can about optimum brain health.

Dr. Munoz never seemed rushed when she was evaluating our son. She answered all off our questions and made us feel very comfortable. I would strongly recommend her to any of my friends & family.

Dr. Munoz is a very likable lady and doctor. She takes the time to evaluate your physical status and asks probing questions about your physical and emotional health. She specializes in MS and she has taken a special interest in learning all she can about it. She's not the normal Neurologist. You'll like her very much!

Dr. Munoz is only interested in treating migraines, which have never been my issue. Every visit she asked about my headaches, which I never have. She wanted to probe and probe about them when I am concerned about other more troublesome neurological symptoms. Her approach is to prescribe strong meds and not look for root cause. Frustrated with her and her office staff, which I'm sure is why her assistants are not consistent. She needs to to got a university setting because managing her own practice is not her strong suit.

I have been going to Dr Munoz for years and years and she is just great, friendly,thorough,and knows her stuff, i hate it that she is leaving but she will be working with a lot of things mainly Multiple Sclerosis she is the best i ever had and i will miss her i would give her a 10 out of 10 but their is only 4 stars

Dr. Munoz has greatly improved my quality of life. She's been treating my migraines for the last 10 years. She listens intently like no other doctor and seems to truly care about her patients.
