Dr. Shang Loh, MD

Horrible horrible Dr. NO BEDSIDE MANNER. Cut off my leg so he could get a position in Pennsylvania (Needed something to put on his resume). Had absolutely NO idea about what he was doing. I had to get another surgeon to fix what he screwed up. FIND SOMEONE ELSE !!!

Loh was the absolute worst doctor I have ever been to. He never had one encouraging words to say about any of the procedures he performed He cut off my leg without ever saying that it would relieve the pain. Do not ever let him touch you. He was so bad. I had to go to a different surgeon afterwards so that she could revise what he did. Don’t let him touch you.

He saved my brothers life! My brother had to be helicopter in from Jersey to Philadelphia...he told my brother the risks (kidney failure, paralysis, and even death) he got straight to Business! Thank you Dr! If my brother had died that day, I wouldn't know what to do thank God for surgeons that know what they're doing! So grateful!

Leg Surgery: Dr. Loh was suggested to my by my cardiologist.. The first visit was all business, got on top of the problem very quickly. Next Dr. Loh ordered a scan. Soon after the surgery was scheduled at Stony Brook. Now 2 weeks have past, I am walking without pain. My guess the right leg will need a repair also and Dr. Loh will be my surgeon. I would not recommend to any one, no exam, no history, overlooked problem.

I recently was sent to Stony Brook for emergency Surgery from the ER of a local small hospital by the Chief of Surgery of Stony who happened to be making a visit there on another matter. He immediately recognized that the blockage had to be done by a place with more assets - equipment & people. He immediately made arrangements for Dr. Loh & team to be prepared for my arrival. The trip was over 50 miles. When I arrived, the EMS team had writted & delivered their exam findings made throughout the trip. Dr. Loh & his team were ready when my ambulance arrived. He introduced himself & the staff. After a scan, I went into surgery. The next morning Dr. Loh visited & explained the complicated nature of the lengthy operation which required replanning after discovering extensive damage and true nature of the blocked artery. The operation was very long but switching from a balloon catheter to full bypass, cleanout & graft was necessary. The explanation was thorough and answered all my… questions well. He also explained that the local cardio provider had ignored clear symptoms that I also pointed out. I was within ONE day of losing my leg and death. Dr. Loh is an effective communicator. Throughout my hospitalization he visited with daily updates and details. He is mature, experienced and has the skills to adapt to the reality of the situation, not just blindly committed to a preconceived limited idea. He saved my life!

Dr. Loh is very knowledgeable the vascular field. He did an excellent job on my fishular. He does what is good for the patient He is not ready for surgery unless it is very necessary and helpful to the patient. I would definitely recommend Dr. Loh to my family and friends as a vascular Dr. Thank you Dr. Loh for being a caring Doctor

Terrible surgeon, does not explain any part of the procedure and thought he knew better than everyone else. Is extremely rude to his staff and creates a bad environment for all those working with him. I would never recommend him to anyone. He gives Stony Brook vascular surgery a bad name.

Dr Shang Loh has a wonderful bedside manner, very patient and thoughtful as we worked though a complex issue and difficult decision for our father who is medically complex. Technically he is superior and he surrounds himself with a staff who are also pleasant and makes you feel your problem or request is the most important issue they are dealing with. I highly recommend him and his team.

I have found Dr Loh to be an extremely knowledgeable and competent surgeon. He has kept me well informed through all stages of my treatment and I would highly recommend him as a Vascular Surgoen.
