Dr. Shao-Hwa Pius Wei, DO

I am writing a belated review for Dr. Shao-Hwa Wei at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Wei is an outstanding neurologist with exceptional bedside manner. He took the time to listen, explained the seriousness of facial shingles, which unfortunately results in permanent temporal headaches and an increased risk of seizures clearly. He outlined the long-term implications, and developed a proactive plan of care to reduce the risk of seizures and manage ongoing temporal headaches. His communication is calm, thorough, and reassuring, and he truly makes you feel heard and cared for. I highly recommend him!

Didn’t listen. Dismissed what I told him and was rude and arrogant.

This md listened to me and my concerns without judgement and made suitable recommendations. Also took follow up calls from my pcp. Highly recommend.

Didn't listen to my concerns, didn't know what the health problem was, ran tests that my pcp had just done, with no explanation, tried to charge my insurance company $1300 for testing in addition to blood work and an office visit, spent a lot of office time writing things down and looking things up on the internet, provided no follow-up from his end. His assistant Blake is exceptional however--very prompt and professional. That was the only highlight of my visit to Dr. Wei.

I didn't rate "follows up after visit" because I was seen a day ago and they haven't had an opportunity (or need) to follow up. I was able to get an appointment for the very next week (as opposed to some specialists who take a month or more, even if it's a rather urgent issue). The staff was friendly and prompt, as was Dr. Wei. He is down-to-earth, caring and a good listener. You can't find a better neurologist anywhere!
