Dr. Shari Malini De Silva, MD

Dr. DeSilva saw my father (88 years old) for one VA appointment for continued care, not for new or worsening symptoms. His dementia was managed previously for many years by another doctor but due to a move, he saw Dr. DeSilva. She said that he did not have Parkinsons or dementia and took him off all his medication for those illnesses. When he stopped taking them, he couldn't even walk. A kind stranger helped me pick him up off the ground and lifted him into my car because his brain could not process how to get into my car. I called her and she would not renew his medications at all. His primary VA doctor said that he could not over-ride a specialist and the VA told me that my father would have to see DeSilva again to give her a chance to correct any issues and would not make an appointment with another neurologist. I truly believe that she is heartless and cruel. I cannot understand why she would not reinstate his medication. I took him to an outside neurologist who managed his… medication and my father lived well for another year.

i saw this hack years ago...strange neurological symptoms...she could not come up with a dx... she quit after 2 hours & said...must be "crosstalk" today i rcvd a sec msg from my primary care, who tried to consult desilva for memory loss at 74 yo+... her reply in refusing to see me (thank gawd! was that she said i had "sleep apnea" & blah blah...in fact i have not had osa for many years...my cpap was stored away about 6-7 yrs ago...i hope that not a single veteran is exposed to desilva for the kinds of reasons stated in these reviews!

First, this doctor has zero foresight and a propensity to quickly and completely minimize my medical complaints and symptoms... My medical record documents 16 years of certain neurological issues, complete with MRI's, CT scans, X-rays and the historical opinions of other neurologists and neurosurgeons, recording symptomatic and physiological symptoms virtually year by year..... somehow this horrible doctor negates it all and determines that my pain is all in my head. Take caution as this doctor either has an agenda or is derelict in her profession. Filing a grievance. Recommend others do the same if experience was negative. We need to remove these doctors from our system and demand the care we deserve!

I usually have to wait ridiculous amounts of time to be seen but I was actually seen in a reasonable time. I was in and out.

Wonderful doctor!

Neurologic testing can be painful and a little bloody, don't blame the Dr. She is an excellent physician. I have seen her many times due to idiopathic peripheral neuropathy in all four limbs. She may seem distant and aloof, but she is just trying to make your exam go quickly to ease your pain. She makes excellent notes and really is a nice person. She takes the time to answer all of my questions.

This person should not be allowed to continue employment by the VA. It is a power-trip to this doctor to play god with the lives of Veterans. The lesson learned is to ask for another MD.

The wait took a while but it was definitely worth it.

Worst care ever, I have been fighting to get meds for 3 years!!!

I am amazed that the Veterans Administration would allow a doctor like Dr DeSilva to practice at a hospital like the one in Fayetteville Arkansas. She has miserable attitude I'm not sure that the procedure that I was supposed to have was done in its entirety and is causing me great difficulty in my disability claim. If you're a veteran steer clear because she doesn't have the name dragon lady for no reason. If there's a way that She can save the VA money it's a good bet she'll look after the VA first and the veteran second.
