Dr. Sharon Young Byun, MD

I have suffered from severe pelvic pain for almost 9 years of which year 5-7 I have been under care of Dr. Byun. She did not offer any testing, even refused to order hormone tests, and her recommendation to me was "continue doing what you are doing" which meant basically suffering from excruciating pain and sleepless nights every month. She completely ignored symptomology, including bleeding and discharge and the only thing she kept offering is taking contraceptives which I refused to do without knowing what diagnosis was. When symptoms got worse, I insisted on having hormones checked and discovered that I had polycystic ovarian syndrome and because it was left untreated, now I also have advanced endometriosis that is completely disrupting my life. I switched from her to Dr. John Davis at UF Women's Center a year ago, still with no result. The same story until my symptoms got so bad that I had to demand having MRI. It showed various loci of endometriosis with malignancy not being… completely ruled out. These two individuals have no right to be called physicians. "do no harm" clearly doesn't concern them, but they are eager to keep bringing you back to their office for two symptoms at a time.

I saw Dr. Byun at her Springhill office during a follow up of my first trimester visit. She discovered abnormalities in my ultrasound. She was very kind and comforting to me during a very scary situation. She sent me over for a second opinion the same day and followed up with a call. A week later when my miscarriage was confirmed she again called and answered all of my questions. She is knowledgeable and I am very grateful for her care and personal attention to me. The whole team at Springhill is extremely competent, facility is nice and well run. Always got calls back, never had to wait too long to see the doctor.

I went to see Dr. Byun a couple of times for chronic vaginal discharge. Each time I went she told me that most women have some degree of discharge and that there was nothing she could do about it. The only tests she ran were STD tests. I finally followed up with a different MD who immediately ordered an internal ultrasound, and found the Essure coil from a previous tubal ligation had fallen out of my fallopian tube and embedded itself in the walls of my uterus. This doctor completely agreed it was the cause of the 2+ years of constant discharge, and the coil was surgical removed. Dr. Byun never ordered any tests other than STD testing and basically told me that I had to live with the discharge. I would never recommend her to anyone!
