Dr. Sharon M. Rice, MD

Felt rushed, she didn’t greet me, she stood by the door the entire time as if she didn’t want to approach me. I asked her questions regarding the covid-19 vaccine and she was not able to answer any questions considering I am concerned for the well being of my unborn child. My experience was horrible and I will never be seeing her again.

Being a first time mother, there was not one enjoyable aspect about this facility or the doctors. It was nearly impossible to get a response most of the time. I felt rushed at every appointment. I never received any information. The times I saw this particular doctor were especially uncomfortable. She was in and out of the room. I got in a very significant car accident & the hospital that was monitoring me (not Abington) requested i got follow up blood work. When i explained that to Dr. Rice, she was shaking her head the entire time “no” and told me that the reason my levels were elevated was from the trauma and blood work was not necessary. If you are looking for a meaningful pregnancy experience, avoid this place at all cost. (These feelings were established pre-pandemic as well)

Like many other women here, I experienced a similar attitude when I visited “Dr.” Rice. I’m not one to write negative reviews, but when you aren’t listening to my concerns I have about my body, you aren’t doing your job. A similar attitude was given to me by the nurse who brought me in. Aside from the front desk receptionists, I didn’t enjoy my visit. Even years prior with another doctor in the practice I had a problem with someone actually hearing out my problems.When I brought my issues up to my primary, she was shocked. She (my primary) also does gynecology within that practice. I thought maybe, hey, I’ll try Women Care again. I guess I made an uneducated choice, as uneducated as the people within the practice.

Well I know where I won't be going when I have my second child! If you are pregnant and want any say with what you would wish to happen with your pregnancy and labor- then stay far away from this practice- especially Dr. Rice. She is not only very rude but she doesn't listen to your concerns and hardly explains her reasoning behind things. She wanted to induce me at 40weeks. No medical reason as to why was given. Except "that's what we prefer". When I said I'd rather wait a little longer she jumped down my throat and made me feel so belittled. I could not believe the way she was talking to me and the way she addressed things to me- like she wanted to argue. I told her that another doctor told me at my last appointment that we can wait up to 42 before induction, that apparently sent her off the deep end and she told me "no she didn't". Ok- so I'm lying about that??? I stopped talking to her after that response- clearly it wasn't going anywhere other than south. I am not about going… against doctors- and I feel for the most part they do know what is best, but there is a way to communicate with patients, and not make them feel horrible, especially at a time where you are supposed to be happiest. I left the office in tears. She had no right to talk to me the way she did.

Where to begin? I'll start with the first phone call to Woman's Care OBGYN. I told the receptionist that I was pregnant and that I have an at risk pregnancies because of a preexisting condition, I was told that it doesn't matter they do not see pregnant woman until the 8th-10th week. Even though with my previous pregnancy I was seen by a doctor in a different state at my 7th week and had an ultrasound to make sure everything was fine. Since they didn't have appointments that worked with my schedule I saw the doctor at the start of my 9th week. For my first app I saw Dr Rice, she gave me a pelvic exam and that was basically it. The nurse asked me some questions and took my stats before the doctor walked into the room. Maybe they verified that I was indeed pregnant after I left but it wasn't done while I was there. For my second app I finally had my first ultrasound at 13 weeks ( with my previous pregnancy by 13 weeks I already had 2 ultrasounds). After the ultrasound I had my… second app with Dr Rice, the first words out her mouth when she saw me were "well the fun part of your app is over" before I left the office I had some questions about some of the things I was experiencing during the pregnancy and without asking me to elaborate she told me everything is normal. ( I told her I had strange discharges without describing them to her she said it was normal. A week after my 2nd app I went to Abington hospital because I didn't like the discharges and something didn't feel right, they gave me an ultrasound and a pelvic exam said everything looks fine, told me to make an app with my doctor for a fallow up and sent me home. I made my app with a nurse practitioner since there were no available app with a doctor. The next day I had a miscarriage at St Mary's hospital. Where I had a very knowledgeable Doctor who took care of me and after I showed an I interest in switching doctors, told me to come see her in 2 weeks. (Dr Cook of Woman's Specialists of Bucks County). I called to cancel all my app with Woman's Care but the office was closed since they were out to lunch. The next day I get a call from the office to verify my app and I told the nurse that called that I had miscarried and am switching to a different doctor and to cancel all my app with this office. 2 weeks later I get a phone call from Woman's Care again to verify my prenatal visit app and I told the woman that I had canceled that app because I miscarried and I switched doctors she said ok and and a note will be put into my chart. 3 days later they called again to reschedule my canceled app and I told a different woman the same thing. And told her that being reminded of this tragic event in my life is very hurtful. Like I said incompetent starting with the receptionist and ending with the doctors.

first of all i went to women's care obgyn expecting to be seen by a private physician not to be touched by a resident. this was clearly told to dr. rice during my first ante natal visit. then i did see all the doctors in the group. then when i went for my office visit was referred to labor room. then over night a different physician saw me. she was good. i did deliver in morning.dr,rice came in along with a resident and made the resident do the labor and the suturing. i had a third degree tear. and the resident sutured me up. she used so much suture material that i developed granulation tissue. may that is my body reacting to it.then when i go the clinic dr. rice gave me a statement that it is only medical people who develop wired problems. really.... i thought is it because i am a medical person i did know what the actual problem, was.i did have granulation tissue on the scar in my vagina that i could see and i told her. she examines and says there is none i could see. then when i… insisted she says oh yeah now i could see it on second examination, then she tried to remove a little which she could see. i asked her if she examined the whole scar area and she says no, coz it gets uncomfortable for you. really and she does not know where to look for granulations tissue and then she tells me she in her service has never seen granulation tissue in the vagina for an episiotomy scar,how ridicululs, may be you never ever properly examined a lady after delivery for the scar to see if there is any tissue left. now i am 5 months post partum, i still have granulation tissue, she never cleaned it up. i have been to her over 7 to 8 times to the clinic. why did she ever let the resident use so much suture material on me, was it not her job to do the labor. i had good insurance, was her private patient. such a lousy doctor. now i have so much psychological trauma of not healing even after so many months after labor. really. i stopped going to her.

I went for my annual OB-GYN check up. When I asked how I could relive my PMS symptons, I was schocked when she replied, I can tell you but you are not going to do it. I felt a smirk. Then she went on to say I should avoid white rice. Did not like that she assumed I ate white rice and that I would not give it up.The checkup was also very brief, the quickest I have had so far. I would NOT recommend her, find another doctor.

I CAN NOT believe someone gave this woman a high rating. When I was pregnant with my first child I had a reg check-up. I called her office staff to tell them I was pregnant and asked if I needed to reschedule for a longer visit. They told me not to bother and to come in for my reg appt. Outside the door of the room I over heard her say "What is she doing here? She's like a minute pregnant!" During my appt she suggested that I buy the book pregnancy for dummies. When I asked her a question, instead of answering it she told me I really ought to buy pregnancy for dummies. My next appt I brought my hsband where she asked me 3 times if he was the father of my baby. I asked her a question about my pregnancy and again rather than answering it she said "I really aought to buy pregnancy for dummies." I couldn't believe it!!!!

The entire staff at WomenCare are very talented and capable. Dr. Rice's amazing bedside manner sets her apart from peers. She "keeps it real" and you can easily relate to her. She probably gives more emotionally than she should - which is why I love her!
