Dr. Sharon Rose Stephenson, MD

It has been awhile since I've been to Dr. Stephenson, who has been my OBGYN doc for several years. But as I read some of these reviews, I thought to myself, "They must be talking about a completely different doctor! The Dr. Stephenson I've experienced is wonderful! She is compassionate, knowledgable, answers all my questions, and spends as much time as needed with me. I've always felt I was in the care of an excellent physician. The wait to see her once you get to her office is sometimes a little long, but so it is in most doctor's offices this day and time. I feel it's worth the wait to see her! I would highly recommend Dr. Stephenson to any female who wants an outstanding doctor.

I am not a patient of this doctor. But I am writing this on behalf of my friend because my friend left the world. And it was because of this doctor's incompetence. Will very soon post another review with details. Please DO NOT SEE HER.

I was her first patient when she first came to Clayton [Wake Med.] I fired her the last time I saw her because she had me sitting in her exam. room over 30 MIN. When she finally came in for my appt. she never apologized for her being late. Dr. Stephenson thought her time was more valuable then my time. I made my appt. for a pap, and Dr.Stephenson didn't have the time for me, and just examined me instead. I also wanted to discuss my health options concerning menopause , and she tried to shut me up by giving me some stupid answer to my question to her, because she didn't care. She finally left Clayton, and went back to her hometown of Cary and her practice.That pretty much sums up her real character, in my opinion! GREEDY / PHONY

I have been going to Dr. Stephenson since I was 15 (I am now 23). I never really connected with her, but figured I only saw her for annuals so what was the big deal?...boy was I wrong! After having an abnormal pap, I was instructed to come back every 6 months, I thought ok that's fine, that's common. So when I went back the last time (2 months ago) I was inquiring about weight gain due to the Mirena IUD. She consistently went over all my past weights in the office (which obviously i've gained 20lbs since placement, and wasn't feeling the best about myself) and just stated that "there is no way Mirena did this!"...ok. fine again. So towards the end of my appointment, I asked for TSH (thyroid) screening and STD screening just for routine lab work. I got the lab work done, not only to get one, but TWO bills in the mail for 421 dollars!. Being a nurse myself, I questioned this. After many, many phone calls to insurance companies, Labcorp and the office, comes to find out she coded me AS… A PREGNANT WOMAN!...first off, I have never been pregnant and second, this was a hugeeeeeee mistake and something that you just don't look over. Thank goodness for her nurse Laurie, she is the only reason I stayed sane through this very frustrating process. Needless to say, i will be transferring my records immediately ...don't waste your time or money here!!!!

I've been going to see Dr. Stephenson for many years and am very pleased with her competence, her compassion, and her interest in my overall medical condition. I work in the med mal field and I know too well which are the "bad" doctors out there. She is not them!! Don't let disgruntled, unhappy people sway you away from an excellent physician!

Horrible, horrible doctor. She told me there were no risks in my medication, and when I asked about the known increased risk of blood clots and if I could get a test because of family history, she said "We don't like to do that test. We don't really like looking for trouble." Very, very alarming, obviously. I told her I was no longer interested in the medication and that I would not be coming back. I'm not looking for a new OBGYN and will NEVER return there.

In a hurry to get you under the knife. Misdiagnosis of actual condition. Botched surgery to repair "condition" which required a second surgery with a long hospital stay.

I had some trouble after delivering my second child, and I was sent to see this doctor. She was rude, mean, and condesending. She was ticked that I had to bring my child with me. She was not gentle and didn't inform me of what she was doing. I had such a bad experience, I have not been back to a GYN in 8 years!!!!!! Don't go to this woman!

No concern for patients need and careless about the problem. In hurry to get the patient out of the office. Did not care to educate the patient about the issuse.
